>In the latest issue of Famitsu, director Tetsuya Nomura shared a few new details on the development of Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Nomura stated that he recently did a walkthrough of the game’s entire world map, checked on the game’s dungeons and the side paths in the game’s towns. After doing so Nomura walked away very impressed by how expansive everything is. This is actually good news as it indicates that the game world is either completed or very close.

>While Final Fantasy Versus XIII has it’s own engine it will also utilize Square Enix’s new ”Luminous” next generation engine to improve the in game lightning. As usual, Nomura’s news tidbits regarding Versus is just enough to wet your appetite. No information regarding Versus XIII’s next public showing or how far along development currently is was given but Nomura does promise that Versus XIII will be “a Final Fantasy like you’ve never seen before.”

Then you haven't seen any of the gameplay videos.

It plays like Kingdom hearts except you can control all of your party members and there are much more variety in the abilities and fighting types. Oh, and the monsters and shit are actually monsters rather than black blobs.

Personally I think it looks about a million times more fun than the other FFs.

>I’ve looked at the actual wording for what Nomura says and the sentence in question literally means “preparing to enter mass/full production.” What this means is that the game is getting ready to go into beta, or the final phase of development. Speaking with some people who actually know about game development, they also agree that this is the case AND the developers for Final Fantasy XIII said the exact same thing before they also went into beta.

In short, we should see it next year.
