i would say this is nothing special but no brass music games come to mind (and it's a tuba on top of that) and the adventure aspect sounds dope as hell.

For some reason, I feel like this crocodile is from Pop'n Music, a music game that has plenty of characters in the vain of that croc as character representations of songs.

The game definitely has Bemani influences but has specific mechanics to the instrument.
Pop'n was really wide with its genres and due to that the gameplay was just very basic rhythm game. They still brought as much out of it as they could though, which made it pretty great.
I think the fact we're getting to go on an adventure with a goofy character playing a goofy instrument and upgrading him is what makes this stand out.

styles of the graphics are wholesomely different but the layout for the rhythm segment does resemble popn's. they may have changed that though, i did not see the update.

You know I can recall plenty of games that have music as their main theme yet they don't incorporate rhythm into any part of their gameplay. Something like this where it's a rhythm game and an adventure game sounds like a really nice blend.

Anyone got more details on the actual rhythm gameplay? Is it just blowing and hitting notes? OP says there's maintenance you have to do while playing or something?

there's a meter that fills each time you blow, and fills more the longer you hold it. by blowing and holding a button down you can drain it slowly, so by taking puffs of air right and draining during pauses you can keep it low.
if it fills too much the sound of the tuba gets muffled and eventually you become locked up until you drain out.
so basically playing a song is hitting notes carefully and draining when you can.

How hard is it it to rent an actual instrument. I secretly always wanted to play a tuba but I sure as fuck know I can't buy one.

Probably different kinds of tubas you can buy and I assume there's some sort of stats on them you can level up. What they could be I don't know.

As much as I'd like the option to do custom colors on instruments or clothing, I know people are going to make nude situations with dick tubas probably.
