I'm not saying there never was fake grassroots or astroturfing on. Brink and DA2 were definitely one of them, same as Borderlands, Minecraft, and the XBox release of Perfect Dark.

But Skyrim is different from those games in that it's part of a long lasting franchise and has more fans already than any of those did. The game series has almost been around for two decades for fuck's sake, but had no releases for four years and now it's coming back as a WRPG.

Especially in a market where good Fantasy WRPGs are sparse. I bet you dollars to donuts Skyrim will still be discussed after it is released, same as Morrowind and/or Oblivion still are to this day.
