Anyway,
the erason people hate Invisible War is that it is terrible. Setting
aside the stupid narrative and terrible systems design, Deus Ex is a
game that lives and dies on the strength of its level design. On the
strength of fairly open levels, multiple paths, SSMA, etc, etc.
The
thing is, Deus Ex 2 was written on one of the worst engines ever. It's
true! Unreal 2 didn't do thet hings they wanted it to. So one of their
coders was all "Look, I'll just write a new level loader and lighting
system" and he wrote a whole bunch of shit, quit/got fired abruptly, and
disappeared without any documentation. It turned out that his systems
stank, so levels had to be very small and enclosed. |
