It left out a lot of their training during that time, so I think the others learned before him, as Tien was basically saying it's about time he catches up.

The anime even made a mistake in the Goku vs Tien fight. They had Tien weaving side to side in the air. In the manga they never move in the air, only jump and hover.

Only Chiaotzu is able to fly, followed by King Piccolo, followed by Junior, followed by Krillin, followed by Goku, followed by everyone else.

I never watched GT, I always assumed it was quite shit and by the way people talk about it, that seems about right. Am I missing something or is it as terrible as people say?

I have watched two English dubs, the Japanese one and Mexican one for both DB and DBZ. I have to say the Mexican one is superior for a number of reasons:

-It's not censored.
-It stays mostly loyal to the original lines except for jokes that didn't make sense when translated.
-It had the original Japanese soundtrack.
-Many voices, like adult Goku's, were changed in favor of more fitting ones.
-The screams are manlier than the Japanese ones but not as over the top as the English ones.

If anyone else has seen a better dub than the Mexican one, I would like to try it out.

There were a few watchable episodes (the super #17 arc was okay, super #17 was rad but the ending was dumb and it was only three episodes long). Except for maybe six or seven episodes, the whole series was rife with plotholes, powerlevel inconsistencies, Goku being the go-to day-saving guy for every single fight, and Pan.

If you're talking about the replacement Kikuchi score for Kai, then I agree with you, the placement of the music isn't nearly as good as it was in Z, they are overusing certain pieces far more than the did in Z, and they aren't even using the entirety of Shunsuke Kikuchi's Z score since they aren't using any mono or unreleased tracks. I think Kenji Yamamoto's music was used better in Kai than how they are using Kikuchi's music in Kai.

However, his score in Z is pretty much perfect for that show.

Make way for the elder neckbeard here. The reason Goku's Japanese VA is a hit or miss is because his voice sounds rather unmanly for those of us raised in American or Europe or squeaky and childish at best. This is because he is voiced by the same woman who did the VA for kid Goku.

Why they decided to keep it is beyond me, perhaps it was Toriyama's decision, perhaps someone else's. Anyway, I don't really like many of the Japanese VA picks for a couple of characters and I prefer how Goku sounds in English/Spanish because when he grows up, he sounds like an actual adult or at least older.

I just can't stand the squeaky voice for some reason and don't even get me started on the yelling. Bottom line, it's just my opinion but it seems more fitting coming from an American/European background.
