hooooly fuck. this game man...i don't know what to say, this game is a fucking masterpiece. i just finished it, saved before the 4 choices at the end and did them all my god, definitely in the top 3 of best games i have played in my entire life, i couldn't tell you what the other two would be right now because i'm still recovering from beating this game.

general discussion please, spoiler tag your spoilers. picture is a 1920 x 1080 background if you want it.

I love this game. Sarif ending is best ending.

What do you think the special news will be about?
    >> Anonymous 08/29/11(Mon)03:35 No.108370674
also, i'll just add in some little things i noticed.

    the first two are obvious

Merc with the gun build into his arm is named barret, games made by square, barret ff7 gun arm etc...

the final fantasy 28 poster in prichard's room

the final one i noticed that i dont think many people would have picked up on is that in china on one of the computers one of the peoples computers name is Deng Ai. reference to the famous chinese general who lived during the romance of the three kingdoms era.

    special news?

also, sarif ending was bottom tier, although it was great, i liked taggart and wills ending the best. the other ending down the hallway was badass as fuck too,

reminds me so fucking much of the charlie chaplin speech in the great dictator, had me on the verge of tears.

i highly advise you guys watch this if you want to know what i'm talking about.

    I'm not through, yet.
But that fight in the picus building with that stealth chick HOLY SHIT WAS THAT TOUGH.
I tried it a few times and died like a bitch.
Then, I upgraded my dermal plating (constantly having 2 Praxis points for emergency aug tweaking pays off, I tells ya!) and took the emp-resistence.

placed an emp mine at a random location and waited for the chick to come at me with my peps ready. And holy shit, was that a tough fight. But if you keep er 'stunlocked' with emp grenades, the peps and so forth, you've got a chance.

He is easy as hell to glitch though. Position him to a corner of a room and then hide just around the corner. He will shoot at you but burst fires. You won't be hit due to the corner. Then when he finishes burst just shoot him 2-3 times (or tranq once or whatever). It takes a while but he dies and you are at full health.

it offers the illusion of choice and the augments/persuasion system/the endless doors and vents that all eventually lead to the same place reinforce the illusion that you have a say in the already predestined manner. and what the fuck happened to the ladder half of the game? its as if they noticed a lull in the gaming market and rushed this half baked piece of shit out as to not get murdered by games coming out in 2 months.

I beat it the other day, was avoiding 4chan until I beat Human Revolution.

Fucking amazing game. It isn't perfect, some of the voice acting is bad, there are plot holes why is Eliza an AI and not just human? Or a digital puppet?

And the AI can be really stupid at times. It's too easy to close a door and have them not follow you.

But man, the game mechanics, music, setting, plot, and art direction? Fucking incredible. I haven't sat down and played a 25 hour game in less than a week in, well, fuck. Ever.

Absolutely one of my favorites. I really hope Eidos Montreal does another one. I'm excited for Thief 4 but this is the first Deus Ex game that had me care about the franchise.

    just so you guys know:

all endings are cannon. without hyron operational, panchea would collapse from shifting pressure at a slower rate since you already shut off life support/killed the girls. it would have taken a long time, but nobody was getting out of there alive. there were no operational aircraft or ships after the augs were sent crazy.

blowing it up ending stops the signal through near-instant destruction of panchea leaving everyone to wonder what the fuck happened to stop it. the other 3 endings all have a message broadcast before panchea collapses.

I already listed System Shock 2.
But System Shock 2 didn't do all the things Deus Ex did. For one thing, its story was totally linear. System Shock 2 was more like... Thief: The Dark Project in space, with some RPG elements.

dx3 sucked. all the npcs have same body movements. dat hand wave...ffs. detroit needed to be bigger. china needed to be ALOT bigger. i was like het midgar awesome. but noo its got like 2 places the hive and a stupid strip club with no dancers or hoes to fuck... prety much went to shit in china. Montreal was a little better but then it all got flushed down a hole in the artic. honestly this game sucked. mass effect 2 was way better. witcher 2 is still best game. reused textures everywhere. especially the sewers. all in all i give it a solid 7 out of 10. just cause dx1 meme otherwise it would been a 6

Montréal being in the game made no goddamn sense. Absolutely any city in the world could have been the headquarters for Picus. I get that Eidos is centered there, but fuck. There's so many cities that would have been relevant to that narrative before Montréal.

    Washington D.C.?
    L.A.?
    Rome?

It just came off as kind of out-of-left field.

Detroit makes perfect sense as a headquarters for augmentation, because - aside from the obvious Robocop parallels - its the center of the auto industry and lots of manufacturing.

How is Paris not relevant? The universal language of diplomacy used to be French for a reason. They were one of the most powerful empires on Earth, and major world affairs inevitably involve Paris.
