MML2 though was a massive leap forward, you need to get yourself a gamepad to experience the dual analog support the game sported. Actually EXE is the most popular whether people want to believe it or not. Capcom milked it for all its worth and it had a really strong following with tournaments and many fan games. I know there are several fan games in the works to this day because it was just that popular.
