Depends on how you play it.

Firefights and close quarters combat is significantly more intense and the sounds and guns all have an amazing feel to them but sadly there is much less squad involvement (no VOIP or squad leader) and you have to spend a good amount of time unlocking everything you need. Also, no jets, helicopters are much more vulnerable and tanks and APCs have a much 'bigger' feel to them.

However, once you unlock the ammo box and shotgun for the Assault class, its gonna be C4 all day erry day.

Thanks. One of the things that bothered me about Battlefield 2 was that other than the crosshair that shows up when you hit someone, firefights felt very nonresponsive. Like I was doing damage but they weren't taking any. Hopefully that's fixed, by your description.

Most fun ive had in a multiplayer FPS in 6~ years at least. Played the shit out games like CS, DoD, Quake, UT, bf1942, and all that early shit and I absolutely love BC2. Its not as large as other battlefield games but its not designed to be, the maps are still big enough to dwarf anything in any other modern fps. If you enjoy fps games and dislike CoD then you are guaranteed to like BC2. It's not perfect but the destruction and gameplay options make it pure fun.

One of the cool things that comes into play in BC2 due to its graphics is that you can actually hide in plain sight using camo now. No longer are trees just 3 sticks or is rubble just a painted on texture, you can use the environment to mask your position and rely on stealth instead of hiding out of los all the time. It brings a bit into sniping as well (despite the game itself not doing much else to promote actual useful sniping) by putting that thought into your head of do you strafe back and forth to dodge incoming shots or do you rely on your cover to hide you?

Sadly the game has a pretty shitty netcode which means low pings, bad hit-detection and some pretty weird situations all around.

I can really feel it, especially with sniping. In vanilla sniping is like a bad japanese gameshow sometimes, you don't know whether to aim infront or behind them to hit someone. In Vietnam its smooth as butter every single time not just with sniping but with every single weapon.

I only just started playing (not even level 1 yet), but sniping is too easy, engineer gun feels too weak, and assault class makes me nervous because I have a loud ass gun. I usually get a pretty good streak though

I had so much fun playing Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2 back in the day and then I got out of PC gaming. I heard the first Bad Company kind of sucked but this sale sucked me into Bad Company 2.
