Left analog stick should be swapped with dpad in order to benefit playing a genre on this controller other than fighters, because you should have a proper stick for them.

Never mind, you covered this. Glorious controller, but it should be based on the 360 controller and not the classic simply because the 360 pad is much more comfortable.

I used to feel the same way, man, but think about it this way: you don't keep your thumbs in the middle of the controller the whole time, do you? You are most often pushing the sticks forward or diagonal forward which means you are most often making contact with the edge of the sticks. A convex nub gives your thumb more surface area in this position.

Anyway, the Razer Onza looks pretty solid to me besides the analog nubs which I just described the problem with. Good stick placement, concave analog triggers, a d-pad that (from the looks of it, never played with one) gives you a good feel for each of the eight directions without accidentally hitting a diagonal, and the best part is that it has mappable "3rd" shoulder buttons which is practically cheating since you can put shit like "jump" there and never have to take your thumbs off the sticks in FPS.

Put a mini USB connection at the top of it like the dualshock3 so it can be charged and be used on a PC. Also A/B buttons and X/Y buttons should be switched.
    Other than that it's perfect.

The Gamecube controller if it had defined shoulder buttons/triggers like the 360.

I love the button placement. I still think that just putting 4 in a diamond shape is fucking stupid and we should be past it.

Probably to avoid paying royalties or something. It doesn't -actually- matter, of course. The buttons could be Egyptian hieroglyphics and it wouldn't make a difference as long as they were arranged the same.

I have a PS3. There are things I like about the PS3. I am happy about them.

For the love of god, would they PLEASE fix their awful controllers?! There is nothing, NOT ONE SINGLE THING, I like about them. Multiple, awful shoulder buttons. Horrible placement of horrible control sticks. Awful, tiny, almost-flat buttons. Individual buttons for the d-pad. Weird start and select buttons that are hard for my thumbs to find. Even the shape itself is not particularly pleasant to hold.

I don't get why everything about it is so bad. You think they'd get one element right by accident.

The GCN controller's triggers are indeed analog. It's why they are "sliders". I think Microsoft's trigger-like design is a bit more elegant.

Not many games for GCN really used the pressure sensitive stuff, but there were a few platformers and RPGs that used them to control the camera.

Mostly just people don't like having to use battery packs. Eventually, they stop holding a charge anyway.

Lower responsiveness in wireless controllers is worth noting, though. It's not something people who play casually are really aware of, but the difference in when you input to when the console receives the signal in wired vs wireless controllers is significant enough for professional and competitive players to take note, I think.

I always get wired controllers for the above two reasons and because with wired controllers I don't have to buy any extra peripherals to make them work across my PC and 360.

    1. The left analogue stick needs to be positioned so that the thumb runs perpendicular to the index finger, or comes very close. Analogue sticks that are positioned so that the thumb points the other hand or towards the controller (as is the case with the PS3 and PSP controls) are fine most of the time, but when it comes to something that requires a lot of precision (fighting games, driving games, etc.), having the stick somewhere other than the most comfortable resting spot gets tough on the hand muscles, resulting in a very tedious experience.

    2. Primary face buttons should be positioned similarly.

    3. Obviously, the controller must be hand-fitting and responsive. Its amazing how many third party controller devs don't seem to play-test their controllers and make sure that they're functional and somewhat ergonomic, resulting in clunky controllers with bulges, unresponsive sticks/buttons, slightly misplaced buttons, etc.

It was basically just planned to be used for the wiistore stuff.

Its really not that bad anyways. The wii mote is barely draining any power when I play MH3.

I generally think that it would work against nintendos design philosophy with the Wii.

And goddamnit Gamecube controller cables are short as fuck.

I love the 360 controller. It has great design and feels good when you hold it. Replace the D pad with something much more defined, like the PS3 or Wii's.
I think to improve it, and improve all controllers, would to put the face buttons of the bottom of the controller, where your fingers grip. It would allow you to operate both analog sticks while being able to use the face button functions. It would use the other fingers that are wasted gripping it, allowing full control of the game.
Another cool addition would be swapping of sticks and the D-pad. You could take out the D pad, and swap it with one of the analog sticks. With the face buttons gone, you could also put it parallel to where it originally was, making it balanced for left handed gamers.
I don't want any motion control or screen, because its a controller, right? Not a wagglan simulator or television, I want to play games on it. The only motion addition I'd think would be neat would be to add the Sixaxis controls. If used correctly, they add just the subtlest touch you need when playing a game. It could be used as lean for instance in shooter games, or could help turn in flight games (NOT Lair)

Here what it would look like if I could make improvements. I'd add thumbstick buttons and make it wireless. I'd make the octagonal gates not as severe as they are now but still have tiny ridges to lock into cardinal directions. I'd also make be compatible to be used on computers.

Having the controller divided into 2 parts isnt that great for tight controls either. Though thats arguable and mostly my personal opinion.

you cant reach all the buttons, therefore they are useless.

the wiimote really is inferior and only works for games that are especially tailored for the waggling.
Games like monster hunter and tatsunoko vs capcom show that classic types of games just dont work with it.

PS move offers more buttons and would therefore be better for many games, but its still inferior for classic games compared to a regular controller.

Couple things that blow about the Wii. The lag, yeah it lags like a motherfucker. The lack of proper motion capture by the sticks and loss of calibration all day (also removes the ability to use it at any decent speed.) The abysmally low resolution and precision.
You are also correct, the lack of dual handed grip reduces stability and decreases analog precision.
The thing is kind of a mess.

    This is the perfect controller.

Put a PS Dpad in there, I don't care. If you play fighting games with a controller you are doing it wrong anyway.

Everything else is perfect. The ergonomics, the weight, the confort in long sessions, the buttons, the raised analogs, the triggers... I honestly don't know how they can improve on it. Less deadzone on the analogs perhaps, not as little as the sixaxis though.

Clearly some people haven't played an FPS with the remote + Nunchuck, if you think it's a gimmick.

It's the ultimate compromise between the accuracy of mouse and keyboard and the convenience of a gamepad on the couch.

Hell you wouldn't need a Classic Controller Pro if they put:

-two GC X+Y crescent-style buttons around the A button (having to use D-Pad as face button substitutes just didn't work for a few genres like fighters, though most people don't know is that it works surprisingly well in a lot of other games in combo with the Minus button).
-another C-button style button near the B-trigger
-a D-Pad on the nunchuck (which could've been tackled in three ways - have the joystick and d-pad as switchable modules, have the d-pad appended ala the right hand side of a Gamecube controller or; try and fit it on with a flatter and longer nunchuck face.

    >>100519954

To be honest, I really liked it. If only because having my left arm with nunchuck in hand resting on the arm on the couch whilst my right arm was relaxed on my right knee (even while aiming!) just felt so right for me.

Still not as stable as a regular controller.

The wiimote is just good for the remote games.
And even for those its not as precise as an analogstick because its just too slow.

There is a reason why they released the classic pro. Its just better for many games.

No, he's right and you're a Nintendo fan. YOU are what's wrong with the industry. He stated a simple fact and he called it, you Nintendo fags come in force.
He also wasn't saying fuck fun, idiot. He was saying fuck that. That being the entire fucking sentence before it. innovation and "fun." Nintendos idea of fun, isn't. That's why he said fuck that and if you actually liked fun games you would be rip shit at their idea of "fun" as well.
It's like being a chef and cooking, a few people are master chefs in restaurants and some people are simply good chefs in their own kitchen. Then Nintendo comes along and tells you how to cook food in their easy-bake oven and the utensils included.
Everyone who can actually cook would scoff at them and tell them to fuck off.
What happens is that easy bake oven replaces a real oven, say good by to your good knives, your oven mits, your racks, your pans, your 6 range stove with 2 warmers and 3 large spaced racks with all the trimmings.
That's Nintendos dream and quite a few others too.

As I've said many times before in this thread, the Wiimote is ok for wagglan, but thats about it.
And even when its about that its not as accurate as it should be to be considered precise.

I actually really like the N64 controller. Keep your right hand on the right side, and alternate your left hand between the left side and the middle depending on what games being played. Usually games used the analogue stick and Z but for some games like Killer Instict the D-Pad was better. After prolonged use it did give wicked-ass blisters on the thumb though.

sports bowling doesn't even properly spin the fucking ball and capture the motion. It's pretty broken. You can easilly test this by purposely throwing a gutter. That demonstrates the point, but the game clearly does not like you to bowl the way you want to bowl and will fuck with it when you set up a situation that it 'wants to change.'
Frankly I'm almost surprised that almost everyone who played the game didn't notice it. But not really because people suck at games.

Why do you have to be so general when you say it lacks precision?

It shits on the other controllers in the realm of FPS aiming-wise, and then there's shit like Tiger Woods and Pro Evo Soccer that provide us a more precise approximation of their respective sports (golf with little button abstraction, soccer with far more simultaneous team-play that actually reflects the strategic elements of the sport). Then there's city builders like Dawn of Discovery and point and click adventures which also have more precision with the Wii Remote.

And none of that involves flailing around like a madman.

I would like a controller that fills out my hands, slightly bigger than the 360 controller. I would like it to be bent in the middle so that my wrists and hands form two intersecting straight lines. The buttons should all be pushable at once, and they should all be pressure sensitive and satisfyingly tactile. The option to switch out the left analog stick for a d-pad would be excellent, especially if it was just a flip or click away. The controller should work both wirelessly and wired, have a rechargeable battery with rumble and a center home button with touch sensitivity so i could 'cycle' through menus by moving my finger in a clockwise/counter clockwise motion on it.

I would like it to be matte black with durable sticks that won't give out or leave particulates, made of a special grease-fighting material, and easy to clean.

    Yep.

Shit like that doesnt matter at all because its not fast and reactionary. Yes its good for games like Sim City because its close to a mouse than an analog stick. But thats still extremely limited for a super minorly represented genre.

Imagine if Microsoft or Sony launched their new consoles with only one new controller, and everybody else having to use Kinect or Move.

I like Nintendo, and I like the WiiU controller. I don't like that they've made it so expensive that I can't let my friends enjoy it with me. I understand they're trying for the hardcore market, but for fuck's sake. The fucking Wii had Gamecube ports because they knew people would want to use them over the Wiimote. Now that we have a new system with a good controller, they're going to make everybody else use the damn things instead of the superior new tech?

I don't like it. No sir.
