If
you get shot in the head, you aren't shooting any more people. Also the
recoil on the guns is terrible, and in reality, guns don't function
like instantgib railguns but rather very inaccurate handcannons I
suppose would be the best way to describe them.
The reason the
games are so loved is two fold. On the first hand, the skill ceiling is
nonexistent, so anybody can pick this game up and feel good about
themselves. I kid you not when I say TF2 has a higher skill ceiling then
the CoD franchise. And I mean, thats fine, there is nothing wrong with
this, it just panders very much to the ME ME demographic of this era,
who want instant gratification. The Bulletstorm pregames MASTER SERGEANT
SERGEANT MASTER TO THE MAX thing is a pretty good indicator of what
causes people to enjoy the game, similar to Bioware games and
explosions.
Secondly is market appeal. Its a very well known
franchise, and Activision cultivates its franchises very very well, at
least at first. It IS the multiplayer game to buy if you want to play
multiplayer, because up until recently with BF3, there were no
contenders to the throne.
It does have a ton of issues, ranging
from terrible balance, pointless guns, railgunning and tiny levels,
nothing but Deathmatch, the skill ceiling, and a few other things, but
the main reason is its
still somewhat fun to play as long as you are not a moron and realize
its a no skill game, and you are only playing it to feel good. |
