This is one reason why I've been trying to encourage people as an observer. So Clair, Flannery, Bianca and all the other girls with green thought bubbles have a good opinion of me at the moment, and will do more minor things that I ask them to like start hanging out with others, but aren't interested in a more intimate relationship. The girls with yellow thought bubbles are much closer, and will do things like ask for hugs and such (or, if they're aroused enough, attempt to molest me as in Leaf's case). Pink thought bubbles means the character's definitely in love, and in Leaf's current case she's about as in love as she can get. I've checked Skyla and Elesa and each has a pink opinion of the other, of the "Wanna have sex!" kind, meaning they're more friends with benefits than girlfriends right now.

I don't get this game. How in the hell do you talk to girls? 90% of the options are a failure, "How are you" almost never gives you anything to work with, and there are just too few conversation options in general. The only way to get a girl to like you appears to be to say hi to her once a period and then run away, until finally she's your friend. At that point, though, pretty much all you can do is get her horny and then ask her to follow you to...

And then I remember this is an eroge.

So much wasted potential! Granted it's cute as fuck, but unless you're the type to want a harem and/or like picking fights and making enemies, the game is very one-dimensional. Sadly even as a sex simulator it's pretty lacking. The scenes themselves are great, definitely one of my favorites out of any of the "sex simulator" type games I've played but they still get stale pretty quick no matter how many different characters you toss together since there's no real interaction mechanics. I was hoping the modding community would bring more to the table on that front but I haven't noticed anything like that when I skim through threads.

Yeah, that's exactly my problem. If there was a full-featured dating sim that took AA's basis and made it way more deep, I'd pay any amount of money (especially if there was a reliable way to watch other pairs' relationships develop).

It sounds like half of your frustration is not knowing what you're doing. Asking how someone's doing is only good for seeing if they're in a bad mood or in love/lust. If you want to improve relations with people, you need to be more active. Remind them to study and attend their clubs, and actually study and practice for clubs with them. If you're interested in letting the CPUs interact, give them time and let them - some of them may want to talk to you, even.

Once you have a romantic and sexual relationship with someone, there's not much to do beyond sex, but there's still the question of where and when you're going to do it. Acquiesce to your partner's wishes when they ask to do it in a populated hallway, regardless of who you may piss off? Sneak into an opposite-sex clubroom? Only ever do it at someone's house to avoid interruptions?

It's unwise to play AA solely for the sex, because you can't jump right in, and it's not exactly interactive. You play AA to see how many girls you can get for yourself without them getting pissed at you and each other. You play AA to see Nanoha shacking up with one of the default girls while Fate gets it on with Homura, despite your best efforts. If you've done all you think you can on one character, start working on another and see how the CPU handles things on the old one.


I'm not going to act like things don't get repetitive, because they do, but the game's not quite as shallow as you guys seem to believe.

Interaction-wise, you have few choices. You can a) try to get in their pants, b) pick a fight, c) try to get them to get in someone else's pants.

And it makes sense, since the conversation is just a means to the end of the repetitive H scenes. I get what this game is, I'm just disappointed it's not more.

Uninteresting to me. Seems like I need a "Sonohana meets Artificial Academy meets [game with lots of deep conversation mechanics]."

Without harem antics/drama, that really just leaves what you said, which is abandoning relationships to the CPU in order to start elsewhere. The very first time I switched off my main character, she and her girlfriend started tribbing in the hallway and alienated just about everybody. Not fun if you have anything invested.

Yeah, one reason I've been kinda going with a "narrative" on this. It's not a 100% accurate translation of the gameplay into this format, and I do end up omitting quite a few screenshots, but I don't change any important details.

And with that, let's begin Day 5!

...which starts off with Roxie tackling me. I ask her what that was for, and she tries to change the subject. I ask her about how she's doing with Rosa and she gets quite embarrassed. Leaf is nearby and doesn't seem to be in the best of moods, so I cheer her up a bit.

I run off without saying anything and continue looking for Clair... who's standing by Elesa and Flannery, watching the two cuddle. Iris is there too, who asks everyone around to come over quickly, Leaf and Roxie arriving not long after she calls for them. Letting Elesa and Flannery finish their morning snuggle, I then ask all the girls present in the library if they want to catch up on the studying; everyone agrees, probably to try and get their minds off this development.

I warn her that a serious relationship is more than having dirty thoughts about someone and trying to act them out. She gets a little embarrassed, and then I ask her what she thinks real love is. There is a gradual buildup of "dislike" points every period. You need a certain amount of "like" points to offset this, which is done via interaction. Doing things together like studying or lunch gives a lot more points than simply talking, but also takes up more time. A quick way to boost affection is to get a person to agree to meet you somewhere, and then next period take them to that location and ask them how they are doing (this is enough positive points to go up one whole relationship level). Otherwise, in order to get good relationships going with everyone, just talk to them lots and do stuff with them lots.

Yeah, one thing that bothers me is that 90% of the personalities are a little too eager to get it on in front of everyone, and thus alienate everyone. You pretty much need a very high virtue on your character to avoid this.

The one thing that I find still challenging about this game is managing to get many positive reactions to sex scenes. If you don't give them a red orgasm--ahegeao, then they have a variety of responses to sex, depending on how well you met their needs, or even on how satisfied YOUR character was with them (I've had characters pledge to try harder next time, etc). It seems that maximum horniness for both characters is necessary to get the best results, which is often a kiss.

Of course, getting a kiss after a home sex scene is a lot easier because it ignores the "red bar orgasm" or "ahegeao" reaction. Unfortunately, during class periods, if you make your partner cum while she has a full red orgasm bar then they will always make a comment about how it was embarrassing or something, which will "mask" the satisfaction-based comment. It is possible to get a kiss after a sex scene during school, but it requires the session to go very well (with both you and your partner having very high horniness, whether or not they are naked is a good indicator) and I'm not positive if it works with every personality.
