>"The frustrating part for us," Disney's head of distribution Dave Hollis told TheWrap Sunday, "is that we had all the ingredients here. You take a classic franchise, team the world's most successful producer, an award-winning director and the biggest movie star in the world and you think your chances of success are pretty good. But we just didn't make it work."

Bombing harder then John Carter. At least they can admit they fucked up I guess?

Johnny Depps best roll in the last few years was his 3 minutes in 21 Jump Street

Movies need to stop making JD play Jack Sparrow in their films and thinking that's enough to sell tickets. They got lucky with Pirates, stop trying to do it again and again.

It looked like Pirates without water

This could have easily, EASILY made a ton of money but they fucked up in numerous ways. It has nothing to to with JD, but the horrible script and direction they took the story.

Good, maybe Disney will wake the fuck up.

They make one good film off of a ride in a theme park and think they are big and bad.

It amazes me that Disney own Marvel who produces such a huge bank for them and they don't take any lessons from Avengers or Iron Man. such is the case with everything. People might be overjoyed when a big bank or corporation gets hit hard by the justice system for being cunts, but unless the big executives actually see jail time, they don't suffer even slightly. They just cut their losses by firing thousands of the work-a-day employees who had nothing to do with the company acting like cunts in the first place.

I saw more trailers and advertisements for Lone Ranger almost a year ago then I did the month leading up to the film.

I ended up seeing it with family. It was okay. Pretty slow and it was low on jokes (or rather, what few it had were beaten to death). Then for being as long as it was it really lacked any long action scenes - in fact there wasn't any. The first three were resolved in < 20 seconds and the final conclusion was just one big scheme, a few train jumping, and finally a brief gun fight.

It was basically POTC4 all over again.

What's not to like about it?
>>

Because it's actually good. True Grit did well at the box office too. Both were R rated movies.

This is a film made for teenagers in a genre they don't give a fuck about.
>>
>>34835975
Neither is White House Down and that was The Godfather in comparison. The Heat was better too.

I'll give you WWZ, that was shit of almost Lone Ranger proportions

You can't be this deluded.
>>

That only lasts for 5 years tops.

After that your vision is no longer what Hollywood is looking for and you're gonna make a bunch of interviews with your friend about how the film industry is going to implode.

Okay? They are good actions flicks who don't try to be something they are not. It's sad you can say this about fast and furious and not steaming piles of shit like Lone Ranger.

>but he was taking revenge on everyone in his old gang

No he wasn't. He wanted nothing to do with it, but had no choice if he wanted to see his family again. The only revenge part of the game is Jack killing the politician after John dies. Which takes up like 5 minutes of the entire game.

Why put any work into pre-production when you can just vomit CGI on the screen, throw some pretty male stars up too and make everything explode?

It's a cheap typical videogame story. Dull and meatless. Hate it when people try and portray videogame stories as more than just an explanation for why you're shooting people. If you honestly believe there's quality to the stories of games such as
>Rockstar produced games
>anything in the Bioshock series
>anything in The Elder Scrolls series
>anything in the Mass Effect series
>any other videogame that's been lauded for "story telling"

You need to start reading some books or stop playing so many videogames. Something is rotting your mind.

What motivation would any producer have for doing this? Do you have any idea why actors are paid so much, or why they can demand to be paid so much?
>>
>>34836196
He was never reluctant, but rather eager to off his former gang who dicked him over and left him to die. Especially since it was now legal within the law. Like I said - it was coaxed into it by the hostage situation, but he was taking revenge on his former friends.
>>
>>34836217
They'd just change the story too much. People in Hollywood take video games even less seriously than comic books. You'd have to find a writer and director who don't make summer blockbusters for it to turn out good.

Their ego was plenty bloated before.

It's like you were born in the 90s and your only experience with Disney was their classics and the renaissance films that came out during your childhood. Not any of their shit-tastic films from the 60s and 70s.
>>
>>34836149
>the pirate series produced 12 hours of films based on a theme park ride
>>

>1.It can be changed
1.No it really can't you are pretty ignorant if you think that's going to happen. Also, there's really no problem with it, paying actors has nothing to do with if the movie is done well or not, what the fuck are you even on about? No one will be "culled out" or that would be happening now. Your theory is stupid, logically

2.Yeah that's what dumb people who see movies and waste money want to see bro.

3. They should be realistic, yes

4. I'm sure some well known dude wouldn't have saved it, but Armie was indeed a horrid choice

5. You can say that about any actor who has ever done more than 1 film ever. You're basically saying he's the same because of his strange typecast, but it's not really true, he just plays weird characters, not the 'same' characters

6. It happens, that doesn't determine failure or success

7. You "improvements" are total shit and wouldn't help anything because they aren't even close to realistic and make no sense. Also I was being sarcastic, since you essentially have no clue what the fuck you're talking about :)
>>
>>34836302

The story needed to be changed. The Mexico arc could be almost entirely removed and the story would stay the same. It was a ton of fun to play but a lot of that game was bloated and the end felt very rushed. It may be a good story for a video game but its not even close to the great western films, especially side it borrows so much from them

They threw Johnny Depp in in like, three places. Quit whining it's not that bad.

If you're talking about Disney World then all they got "rid" of was the dumb little girl in the basket who didn't do shit and the tied up couple at the end.

Better than letting it stagnate and be a creepy relic from the '60s. Ever been to Dollywood? You don't want Disney to look like that in the future. Johnny Depp's animatronic at least makes the ride look like they've touched it since the '60s.

>>
>>34836147
Here's a depressing fact about modern day Hollywood. Big budget popcorn films are shit so quickly these days, that it's now pretty common that a studio will let the movie start production without a finished script.

A recent example of this happened with Men In Black 3. It started filming whilst the script was only 2 thirds finished. In fact the film had to stop shooting for a while because it got to a point where they couldn't shoot any more scenes because they hadn't even been scripted yet.

You mean teaser trailer right? Most trailers are pieces of the film stitched together.

This teaser pilot system might work, but it could also backfire where you have decent teasers and horrible films.

Like with Cloverfield.
>>
>>34836230
Movies have a lot of parts to them. A lot.

Go to any popular bi budget film and check out how long the crew list is. I don't think people realize how painstaking a task it can really be to put it all together

Which is why I cringe when shit blunders left and right, as someone mentioned before partially, a lot of people put hard work into it and they are getting screwed. The big guys are just like "we dun goofed!" and do it again next year

It's not the cast, it's that they're going from very human characters in the Avengers into cosmic Marvel with little buildup. It seems to me that casual audiences don't actually like the weird shit in comics, so seeing a talking Raccoon and a walking tree save the universe might turn people off.
