As a young actor, Reeves' best friend was River Phoenix. They made My Own Private Idaho together, and joked about filming Romeo and Juliet with Reeves as Romeo and Phoenix as Juliet. Reeves was filming Speed when Phoenix died. Reeves' life has had its share of tragedy. His sister Kim is battling leukemia, and Reeves has reportedly spent in excess of $5 million on her medical care. He has long been estranged from his natural father, who served a prison term for selling heroin. He dated a backstage Hollywood worker, Jennifer Syme, who bore his stillborn daughter in 1999. They broke up but remained friends, until she was killed in a 2001 car accident.

It'll just be interesting to see a live action take on it. Plus Keanu is a good choice in my opinion because he can pull off kung fu and stunts, he is a fan of the anime and can pull off the right attitude and voice.

Neither does Keanu, his voice just kind of sounds like one. If your complaint is based purely on the voice, then that's not much of a complaint because Steve Blum voices like every anime dub character ever and he was not Spike's original voice anyway.

    >Why you so mad?

Not mad, just disappointed. People are acting like Keanu will ruin this movie or something even though he totally fits the bill for his role. This isn't like Constantine or The Day The Earth Stood Still where he is completely miscast, and the only real reason people dislike him is because he's in a lot of shitty movies like those.

The thing I'm more worried about is the music. That's like the whole atmosphere of the show. Better have some slick jazz tunes or I will be mad.

I've never been one to watch much non-anime Japanese TV. I might check it out sometime though.

What does this have to do with anything? Can you name more than one or two good comic book adaptations before 1997? Now there's a lot of them. And even if movies like Punisher and Watchmen were shit, the original material is still fantastic.

What the fuck? Making a Cowboy Bebop movie will make the anime bad? No. Even if it's a terrible movie, it'll make people go check it out. Even the buzz around the film and the trailers will make people check it out. Besides, anybody who would like to watch Cowboy Bebop and hears about it will watch it regardless.

It's not like my sixty year old mother is gonna say "fuck this, I'm not watching it" after seeing the movie? No, because she wasn't interested in it in the first place.

Why not give the movie a chance? Maybe it will surprise you. If it doesn't, go watch the series again and smile. Don't take this kind of shit so seriously.

And I swear to God, if you don't answer this post in a rational, calm manner, I'm gonna have to agree with everybody else and call you an angry fifteen year old.

The show was episodic and they could do pretty much whatever they want with the movie. Just get the four crew members and a Welsh corgi, put them on a ship, and have them chase some bad guys around Jupiter and solve a mystery for 90 minutes while cool jazz music plays and bam, you have Cowboy Bebop.

What are people so worried about?

    Hello fellow poster! :3

I never said the anime will be ruined by the movie. I don't think it will, not at all. I agree completely with your post.

My point was simply that good animation to live action films hardly ever happen, and are nothing more than a quick buck for some producers.

I don't understand why live-action movies should be more exciting than animated ones. If I was to ask people if they thought the Cowboy Bebop SERIES would have been better animated, or live action, they'd say animated, of course.

My question is simply this. What about seeing real people in a movie... gives you a thrill? You see live action all the time. And besides, anything interesting, like spaceships, are going to be ANIMATED anyway... so... I just don't understand the appeal.
