Is BSG episodic, or does it have a plot? I tried watching Star Trek: TNG but I couldn't finish the first season even though I thought it was interesting.

I have a habit of watching several episodes at a time, and episodic stuff just doesn't taste right that way.

The best live-action shows to watch in no particular order:
    MASH (without the laugh track)
    Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    Breaking Bad S1
    Firefly
    Angel S2/S5
    Dexter S1
    Wonderfalls
    Pushing Daisies
    Veronica Mars (slow but good)

and some okay stuff to watch if you're bored:
    The X-Files (slow but okay)
    Psych
    Jericho (slow but okay)

But they hardly make you a /tv/fag, only L O S T and Avatar can do that.

All the stuff TV tends to talk about the most has some fatal flaw that makes it simply terrible, because that's what causes the most hate and butthurt and the issue becomes articially popular and polarized. You might dismiss some of the shows I mentioned but you might ask WHY I mentioned them. I'm cool for discussion. I'll ignore butthurt though.

It is, although you can see it coming from the start. There's only about 3 great episodes. The rest are sort-of watchable but still crap.

Watchable just means they are better than 75% of shows, which is sadly not much.

I'm not that guy, but it's mellodramatic as fuck, and so slow. I get that it's considered cool if you can subject yourself to a lot of boring shit to allow an interesting story to be told, but there's stuff that can tell those same stories with metaphor instead, which aren't as boring. The Wire is very much for people who don't understand metaphor.
