No, THX and American Graffiti were pretty good. The prequels were fanfilms; after he got divorced in the early 80s and after all that success of the original movies, he became his number one fan. Also, he didn't have Gary Kurtz and other people to temper his general ideas into something great (by the prequel age people wouldn't say no to the money man).

It's just amazing that the same guy that made American Graffiti also made Attack of the Clones.

Phantom Menace: 4/10. I was 15 when it came out and I'd just recently seen the remasters of the old ones in the theaters. I may have been an underageb&, no taste asshole back then, but even I knew a stinker when I saw one.

Attack of the Clones: 5/10. Slightly better than the first one. I enjoyed the action scenes a bit more and I found the Blade Runnerish/5th Element setting in the beginning pretty cool. Still, didn't care for the story or the characters.

Revenge of the Sith: 4/10. This is Darth Vader?!?
The most competent film of the prequels right up until the ending which feels rushed, forced and just so fucking stupid.

A New Hope: 9/10. The classical mythological hero with a thousand faces tales begins, in space. I love this film and the book treatment which, incidentally, I read first.

Empire Strikes Back: 10/10. An adventure film perfection. If you are born post-70s and this isn't somewhere in your top 10, there's something wrong with you.

Return of the Jedi 8/10: The Ewoks don't bother me but I feel like the ending left out potential for more closure. Still, fun as fuck and used to be my favorite when I was younger.

Episode 1 was 10/10 when it first came out and I was naive. Went down to 7/10 over time, then dropped more with the Red Letter Media review, so about 5/10

Episode 3 - 8/10, I haven't watched it in years.
