68 KB New TV Recommendation Chart Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)22:09 No.8184670
Now that I have collected all of your requests (>>8182098), it is time for you guys if you would be so kind to vote for which shows you want to include and which you do not.

REMEMBER - if you have not watched the show and it is not your cup, just don't vote or vote "don't care". This is meant to be a recommendation chart for multiple different genres and tastes on /tv/, not an attempt to only find shows that 100% of /tv/ agrees on (this is impossible). Thanks.

if you don't care about a show don't vote (or vote "don't care".

There were 215 suggestions and so I included that many
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)22:14 No.8184772
some shows are only good for some people like SGU so including them would result in people trying them and saying /tv/ has shit taste
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)22:22 No.8184886
    >>8184772
If you see what I wrote in the other thread, I'm doing this one in a very specific way and in fact used SGU as an example.

Each show will be in a genre category and then within that category broken into subcategories like "essentials", classics, etc. Also, each show will have a few word to one sentence long "consensus" like Rotten Tomatoes has that will explain what it is that's good about it and possibly it's detractors or similar in tone series. That way people in Sci-Fi who see SGU won't automatically assume it's the same type of show as BSG or Firefly.

    I hope so.

While I will attempt not to be biased and add or eliminate shows I like or dislike, I may give a little bit of boost to less known, older, or foreign shows that less people have seen, after all that is one of the main points of having a rec list.

AND I NEED TO SEE RESULZZZ
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:02 No.8185647
    definitely dupes on there

you should also probably get more specific than include/don't include and try to do some ratings but it is alot of shows to deal with
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:05 No.8185699
    >>8185647
Yeah I wanted to keep it simple. I also realized I probably should have taken out the "don't care" and just let people skip the questions (which they can do anyways.

I'm basically going to narrow the list down by not including shows with little to no interest or lots of disinterest while keeping the shows from the original chart.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:07 No.8185739
mad men is on there twice
also roseanne, are u fucking kidding me?!
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:09 No.8185769
Taste is subjective. Just because a few underage retards here in /tv/ like something, doesn't mean it's worth watching.

People need to make up their own minds and find something that their individual tastes enjoy rather than listen to some chart created by samefaggotry posting methods.

    >>8185739
    >>8185775
thanks I got rid of those dupes.

    >>8185769
Taste is subjective, you're right about that. But people keep asking for the rec image and I'm just trying to create an improved one that is a little more current, includes more genres excluded in the original image, and is designed specifically to address the issue that not all the shows on the list are enjoyed for the same reason or are of the same "quality".
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:15 No.8185879
there are already like 10 lists
one for each time some of you faggots decide to "make it right", even though the previous ones work just fine
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:15 No.8185894
By the end I was seriously questioning how the word "include" was spelt.

    > is designed specifically to address the issue that not all the shows on the list are enjoyed for the same reason or are of the same "quality".

enjoy 200 votes for dollhouse and no votes for classic shows that dumbfucks around here don't watch

thanks. Yeah there are a lot of dupes and there were a lot more when I was making it too. The problem was I was trying to keep 200 shows in my head at once and a lot I would forget if I typed the name of one 100 ones before.

This list is perfectly fine. Why do we need a new one? Even though I don't like all the shows on this, they are all at least worth watching.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:19 No.8185964
    >>8185918

Not that it matters. The point is to make a list of /tv/'s recommendations. Not really "classic shows".
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:19 No.8185966
    >>8185918
    I addressed that a little here: >>8185194

I will try to affirmative action the list while being biased as little as possible. I will also post the "final" list before making the chart so if people have issues with any picks or exclusions they can be debated.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:20 No.8185986
    I don't get it.
The list is for recommendations, yet you get people who need those recommendations vote?
They are just going to vote for the shows that they've watched .. so you get a list of shows people watch most ... and for which they don't need a recommendation.... so what is the list for again?
This way the list will exclude less known shows that people would actually benefit from watching.
Example : nobody is going to vote for Crime story or Northern Exposure so it will get bumped off the list, even though it's a good recommendation .. but shows like Glee and Dollhouse that pretty much everyone here talks about daily .. will be on the list even though nobody needs to recommend these shows.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:21 No.8185999
Voted. This better be the best list ever, OP.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:22 No.8186016
There's a shitload of series that are on there twice.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:22 No.8186017

    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:23 No.8186040
    >>8185964

    Yes, it does matter.
The whole point of the list is to offer people new shows to watch, not to give them a list of shows everyone and their mother watched already.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:24 No.8186058
    >not an attempt to only find shows that 100% of /tv/ agrees on (this is impossible).

So why a new list. We already have one that you ignore.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:27 No.8186105
    >>8185986
Both Northern Exposure and Crime Story are on the original list and I WILL be including all or almost all the shows on the original list (if for example there are a lot of people saying NOT to include a show instead of skipping it or saying don't care, I will then consider removing it. 99% chance nothing will be removed. With this new list I am attempting to add to it (specifically scifi, Comedy, foreign) and make it easier for people looking for a certain type of show to know which recs they would likely enjoy and which wouldn't be their cup of tea.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:30 No.8186161
    >>8186105

Then why the elaborate fucking process.
Just add more shows to the original list and that's it.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:33 No.8186212
    You jumped the gun, anon.

The final list needed way more suggestions.

You pretty much gave about 10 people the time to give you suggestions that bumped into your thread.
Then all of a sudden it's voting time?!
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:34 No.8186225
    >>8186161
I guess I'm just being ambitious. My issue with the original rec image isn't that I don't like what it is recommending, I just think the way it expresses those recommendations could be more organized and more useful with some changes and additions.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:35 No.8186249
I would still like multiple lists.
The one posted up there is fine for "drama" shows

We'd need one for scifi and one for comedy shows.
Both those categories have way too many good titles to just cram into a list.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:36 No.8186274
    >>8186225

Don't bother with categories, ranking, tiers etc.. it will just cause more drama and stupid debates over what belongs where.
Just add more on the side or the bottom.
People will skim through anyway. You're just giving them more ammo for bitching.
    >> Anonymous 04/03/10(Sat)23:37 No.8186290
    >>8186212
I continued to ask for more suggestions till it got the the point where the last 3 or 4 contributing posts were just restating their recs. I will give people in another thread at a later date the chance to discuss adding or removing more or appealing the removal of ones that didn't make the final cut.

And remember I will also save the photoshop file so we can continue to make updates to it as /tv/ sees fit.

A good indication of an increase of troll votes is when shows like Vampire Diares and OC get insane amounts of votes. More then breaking bad and madmen combined.
