If I have to make one complaint about Avatar's 3D, it's that it was too subtle. You remember that awesome opening with the waterdrops that were RIGHT THERE? The rest of the movie seemed to downplay that, which made the 3D pretty useless, in my opinion.

The "dragons" of Pandora were very closely designed over the bones of certain seals and extinct Pterosaurs. There was nothing particularly new about the cameras and techniques used to make AVATAR. Perhaps someone could elaborate if they know just what was so special?

With District 9 we had free reign to make whatever we wanted. And we did. Besides, District 9 was simply a Proof Of Concept to allow us to make the Dr Grordbort movie.
