but there was a valid reason to say it's canceled since the major station that carries it will apparently not show it anymore and someone from that station emailed back to fans and said that the ratings don't justify renewal
but apparently, THEM not paying for it doesn't mean the other stations won't, and if they reduce budget etc, they could survive without that station.

I'd say it was a close call, but the cancellation wasn't really a rumor, it was just an educated conclusion which turned out to be false

On March 4, Tribune Company informed 'Legend of the Seeker' fans that the show's ratings "do not merit renewing it", and that they will not bring it back for a 3rd season. However, it seems that Tribune mislead the fans.

Earlier today, Seeker writer and executive producer Mike Sussman confirmed via Twitter that the show has not been cancelled, and that "plans are ongoing for season three".

The show is produced by ABC Studios and sold to various local station across the US. It appears as Tribune simply assumed that Seeker could not come back without their financial support (as Tribune in fact owns almost all of the station the series airs on).

It is presumed that ABC Domestic Television managed to distribute the show to non-Tribune stations across the country, which made a third season possible.

An official and less-cryptic announcement should follow soon.

Tribune controls about 30 TV stations in the US including all the ones in big major media markets like in NYC, LA, Chicago, etc.

The dude can say whatever he wants but where is Seeker going to be shown on TV? On broadcast TV (non-cable), there are only a limited number of channels.

1) CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, PBS, etc arent going to pick up Seeker
2) Tribune is passing on Season 3.

That only leaves 1 broadcast network which is MyNetworkTV.

An ABC cable channel would be the best choice but the problem is that ABC only has family cable channels like Disney/ABC Family or sports channels like ESPN.
ABC doesnt have the equivalent to USA Network or Syfy.

Sorry can't watch this show. I could tolerate the first season solely because of Bridget Regan but the poor acting and shitty writing (mostly shitty writing) put me off the second season. That plus the almost complete disregard for the source material really pisses me off.
