along the last twenty years, American politics has devolved into two
groups of fans in a football stadium, chanting slogans, waving banners,
poking fun at injured players, shouting angrily at one another (and
each other) occasionally. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Cable
news networks, which at the time were still searching for a reason to
exist, have been eager to provide an outlet for the mud-slinging.
At
this point it's hard to believe that anyone really gives a fuck about
anything anymore. It's rather depressing to be able to laugh at morons
holding up traffic in San Francisco as some sort of ludicrous protest
against the Iraq War, only to see the dipshits on the other side do
basically the same sort of nonsense with 'tea party' rallies. Doesn't
anyone in America have lives that are worth living? |
