I read an article that its a flashback to 70s and 80s action TV, adn that there isn't much action.
Is that such a bad thing? So far I like it. It doesn't need to be another mile-a-minute action roller coaster like 24. Bigger explosions and lots of action didn't make Fastlane that popular, right?
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)20:25 No.6720447
I like it so far, but I imagine it will be canceled early. I predict this show will go the way of Drive and Firerly, audiences liked it but fox decided they didn't want to keep making episodes.

It'll get picked up by Bravo hopefully because gays can't get enough of Mark Valley.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)20:32 No.6720660
I'm really liking this. It seems like a fun thriller. This Guerrero character is so cool and I love seeing JEH getting work.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)20:33 No.6720695
Isn't Mark Vally married to Olivia from Fringe?
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)20:34 No.6720743
    >>6720447

Possibly, but so far I think its better than Drive, and maybe it wasn't as screwed up as Firefly (i.e., Fox decided to show Firefly's 1st origin episode 3rd or 4th or so into the show's run, I think this 1st episode is really the 1st). And Drive had a lot of mystery and it was slow to unravel. It was also a serialized series, and I think this is more of a one-off type series, i.e. each can stand alone.

Course, we'll have to wait and see. So far, so good
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)20:36 No.6720805
    >>6720743
I like serialized series. I would love for a network to come out with shows designed only to last one or two seasons and then have a definite end. Each season could be a completely different show instead of these mega shows we have going on now.

Yeah, he was originally supposed to be a regular on Fringe, but then they got married and FOX (or the production studio, or maybe it was the actor's guild, I forget) has some sort of weird policy about spouses being on the same show so they killed him off in the first season.

This is the pilot episode, so I doubt it. We'd probably see something this good in season finales, plus maybe one or two more thrown randomly in mid-season, but that's about it.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)20:51 No.6721322

The program is actually based on a DC Comic series.

Oh, and the ending to the Pilot, best I've seen for an episode for this year.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)21:02 No.6721678
    >>6721608
Yeah. I think it was an old school DC comic, and then sometime in the 2000s they did a miniseries on the Vertigo imprint under the same title.

Yet, it's more like an action series than a superhero show. Which is really refreshing because I have not seen an action series in years. 24, while an action series, does not appeal to my tastes.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)21:06 No.6721826
    Hey, I watched it.
Had no idea what was coming.
It was straight up awesome. It's like saying "we know what you like, we know why, so instead of trying to actually engage your braincells being thought-provoking, HERE YA GO!"
    And delivered.

I liked it enough to walk on over to /tv/ to see if anyone was talking about it.
Definitely something that's gonna have me watching. All the characters were cool, that guy on the left(I don't know names yet) is genius. His opening scene was perfect.

I did. I thought it was fun as hell. Guerrero is probably going to wind up my favorite character, his opening scene was easily the best part of the show.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)21:12 No.6722021
I watched it. That fight scene was epic. I know pilot episodes always get a special budget and stuff, but the whole episode was more entertaining than a lot of full-budget action movies for me. I think that's quite an achievement.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)21:18 No.6722255
    I watched it too!
I'm already sold. The premise is simple enough. And honestly there's like NO flaws in the execution. I remember some shows like this in the past that would have some aspect or another grate on me, but this was spectacular.

I think maybe because they don't have a "romantic interest" person permanently on the cast already. Yeah, that's it. If Christopher Chance is somewhere between Bond and something else constantly picking up girl clients like the pilot episode, this could easily be a fav. watching for me.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)21:18 No.6722261
I've read that the show doesn't suffer much, if any, drop-off in effects between this and the second episode so I'm really looking forward for more gorgeous fight scenes.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/10(Sun)21:19 No.6722283
hell yes this show was satisfying. i hope there's no plot and it goes episodic and is just like some random action shit that lasts maybe 2 seasons and has kick ass fights all the time. as long as it doesn't get up its ass and preachy like house. sometimes you just want a candy bar

I honestly feel a little spoiled. It was like seeing an A+ action movie, except I didn't need to buy a ticket.
