It was great. Nice depressing intro with flames and dramatic music too.

I don't know it. But I recommend "War Photographer" about photojournalist James Nachtwey and the horrifying places he goes.

    outdated but some interesting interviews
    >> Anonymous 10/10/09(Sat)02:05 No.5144284
might be outdated but probably still the best all around doc about ww2 there is. there is also tons of good little ones that focus on more specific subjects (nanking, yasukuni, the 11th day, etc) ken burns' the war is pretty good too, but you may as well just read eugene sledge's book or wait for the pacific to come out.

Ken Burns has spoiled the hell out of me. I've been re-watching The Civil War and even though it is twenty years old, it is done so much better than most of the documentaries today.

Series can be slow if WWII isn't your thing, and it's a bit biased towards the west and the Third Reich (they really should do a new one, unfortunately, a lot of the vets have passed away), but it's a great documentary.

Also, it has James Stewart in it.

From what I heard, it's the best documentary about World War II. It was produced by Thames Television (RIP). The DVD collection has additional episodes that were not in the original series.
