It's only short-sighted if you view it literally, from a naturalistic perspective. All religions have a certain suspension of disbelief, and I think they're more interesting if you view it from a philosophical perspective where you view the merits and consequences of actually believing it rather than whether it's plausible or not.

it's pretty stupid that they included a rabbi in this. Judaism is a non proselytizing religion and there is absolutely no arguments for why someone should convert. Since the religion makes no claims that it is a better path to salvation than atheism, what could a rabbi possibly say to convince someone to convert, especially since doing that sort of thing is generally frowned upon.
