We got this channel when it was still ZDTV and I was a freshman in high school.

I had the channel on every hour I was in my room and probably 12 hours a day during summer vacation.

I went off to college where we didn't get the channel. When I returned for Christmas break, it had or was about to become G4TV. Shit sucked so fucking hard.

You know the great thing about TechTV? The whole vibe of the channel was that it was very laid back. It was channel you can just kick back and chill to.

The shows were so laid back like Call For Help, Screen Savers, and even X-Play (when it was good). Even the commercials were laid back as well because for some reason most of the commercials weren't as annoying as regular TV.

it was very calming. I got out of bed and watched the old guy take calls about various tech issues while I slowly woke up in my rocking chair next to the open window that always had the perfect cool morning breeze blowing in. it always seemed to prepare me for the day like a good cup of coffee without all the hyper buzziness or sticky feelings. It died because one channel tycoon had more money than another channel tycoon. G4 was getting shit ratings so they wanted TechTVs ratings, the easiest way they thought was to buy it out.

TechTV had a huge following in its day, it was one of the few channels you could navigate to and find something interesting like EyeDrops, Anime Unleashed, Fresh Gear, Robot Wars, and Future Fighting machines.

Not only was TechTV entertaining, but I probably learned something new everyday when it was on. Was a regular viewer of Tech Live, Fresh Gear, Unscrewed, Call for Help, X-Play, Thunderbirds, Wired for Sex, and of course TSS. It always felt like you were a part of the show. They also had the best personalities of any network, hands down.

You know what I miss most about TechTV? Unscrewed with Martin Sargent. Such a great show.
