    http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.org/jackie-chans-china-comments-prompt-backlash-ap

    >Chan told a business forum in the southern Chinese province of Hainan that a free society may not be beneficial for China 's authoritarian mainland.

    >"I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not," Chan said Saturday. "I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want."

Funny thing is, Genghis Khan DID invade most of the world but he did it by controlling the people and bringing order.

I agree with Jackie Chan mainly because I trust in his judgement (if he did indeed say these things). He's always been level headed, and he's certainly lived longer than I have. I don't think it was 'freedom from China' that led to Hong Kong's prosperity, but British rule that did so. Slight nuance, but if it was any other country than Britain (during that time period) that ruled over Hong Kong I doubt it would be so successful today. Take modern US as an example, they're really doing a crap job with Iraq.

    >I agree with Jackie Chan mainly because I trust in his judgement (if he did indeed say these things).
He is an actor. He is a Chinese nationalist whose fortune came primarily from the western world. And yes he said these things.

    >He's always been level headed, and he's certainly lived longer than I have.
He only seems level headed to somebody who isn't paying attention. See his other comments in regards to China. He goes CCCP mode. Having lived longer does not mean greater wisdom or understanding, by default or by learned means.

    >I don't think it was 'freedom from China' that led to Hong Kong's prosperity, but British rule that did so. Slight nuance, but if it was any other country than Britain (during that time period) that ruled over Hong Kong I doubt it would be so successful today.

I've seen his other comments. Why is he wrong, specifically? He wants some reconciliation between Hong Kong and China. China isn't some super villain that the western world always portrays it as. In the end, they're all Chinese people, there's no reason for divide.

For example if California (or any one state) wanted to be it's own country, how would you feel?

Hong Kong still practices a certain amount of autonomy even now that it's a part of the People's Republic, so it doesn't really matter which European power used to occupy them, as long as they didn't completely run it into the ground.

I'm an Ausfailian who unfortunately works at McDonalds. We hire quite alot of Chinese people. While i find them to be just like us (if not better, they're incredibly polite), you know, interested in the latest fashions and such, it is kind of odd trying to discuss politics with them. Most of them just sort of go silent and listen to you but don't reply, as if i'd broken a great taboo with them.

The few who do reply also swear that as soon as possible they want to get a residency visa to live here and get away from what they politely describe as 'a terrible country'.

    >Why is he wrong, specifically?
I'm basing my opinions based off of the decades of information I've seen. Much of that information has been censored and as a result the native Chinese population, as well as many abroad, have a dangerous perception of themselves and the world. A perception that is ultimately a threat to my values and my well being.

    >He wants some reconciliation between Hong Kong and China
He wants what every other nationalist Chinese wants. That is Chinese dominance. He is much like George Lopez. He seems nice, but when you hear what he says when he knows the mainstream won't be privy to it, it is obvious what kind of person he is.

    >China isn't some super villain that the western world always portrays it as.
China isn't a super villain. However, it was supremacy over the world power and subservience from the world's people. It is the pros of the United States economy without most of the basic standards for human decency. You may go ahead and say I'm misguided or too inundated with propaganda from western media but I can tell you for a fact that I've done dozens of hours of research and probably know more about China's socioeconomic policy than most.

    >In the end, they're all Chinese people, there's no reason for divide.

    >Praytell what do you perceive the 'end goals' of America and China to be?
They differ depending on which region of power within the respective countries you believe to be most influential. It also depends on which generation you are using as the looking glass.

China - Maritime expansion in order to control the entirety of the South China Sea, increased political influence as well as an increased Han population in Southeast Asia, removal of the Ughyr Muslims in Western China, ideological and ethnic control of Tibet. To continue the industrialization of China, to raise the standards of living within the Chinese population to that of the current official 'estimates'. To secure the majority of the world's remaining resources... Those are the most immediate. For their ideological goals, which will the their ultimate tool: For the western world to mirror the majority of the Chinese population's social contract.

United States - The United States goal's are much more flexible due to the balance of power. Within each branch of government there niche goals and amongst the entirety of the government you have a generalized conceptual goal. Today the United States government primarily wants the Chinese population to continue its increased demand of standards of living, including but not limited to socioeconomic standards and political freedom, increased usage of China as a financial rubber band. Continued increases would give better chance of China developing into Germany/Japan styled nation. You also have the obvious military points which I'm at the point of not caring to type out. Then you have the civilian points. Again, they are varied depending on demographic and I don't care to type them out. If you really want me to go further into some of those I will.

    >I like how you dismissed such a gross violation of human rights, with a 'lol we're not talking about that'.
I never dismissed anything. I said, within the context of my summation of Chinese/American goals, that my explaining of the middle east within that post would have been off topic. Since you've decided to go with the tired route of Iraq/Afghanistan I then explained to you, as you did not grasp my intentional omission, why I had not Bush's policy towards Islam/the Middle East.

    >We are comparing crimes of the US to the crimes of China.
Within the explicit description you just gave I must say that you are incorrect in your assumed comparison of the two parties. The two parties in themselves are not of the same structure therefore the description to which you associate them with is not valid.

    >You accuse China of trying to rule the world when currently America is doing just that.
You really need to brush up on your history man. And using Iraq/Afghanistan as the primary defining factor in which you compare the United States to China is in essence a logical fallacy. You need to use a better scale. A more realistic, and appropriate, scale.

    >I see no problem whatsoever in bringing up the Iraq war.
    There is no problem.

    >It's not off-topic
It was off topic for me to include a segment on it in my comment before you had brought it up. Now you have. You also made a comment referencing my lack of commentary on it. Which is why I have been explaining to you that it would have been off topic for me to tangently discuss it prior to you shifting the course of our discussion to it.

    >Also brushing up on my history seems to be pointless seeing you're selectively using examples from history.

A superpower using its massive economic and military influence around the world for its own interests?! NO WAY, YOU'RE CRAZY! The British never exploited everyone else when they were a world superpower, they always colonized other countries purely out of the kindness of their hearts! And America never did it until Iraq either!

You are what happens when people with above average intelligence, with more than just a snuff of pride, get into a conversation pertaining to materials above their head. While most of the time this probably is not the case for you, in this instance it is. It is a shame though. You are capable of understanding and growing further but your ego hinders you.

    >Your reply was that it did not apply to this conversation
    No my reply was "0/10".

    >you even admitted
To have to admit would first require one to deny or place the implication of denial into the sphere of the conversation. There never occurred. You failed to recognize my intent of commentary, despite it being it being accurate expressed, and then continued to pursue down the course you obviously have constructed for me as the result of your inaccurate perception of my character and the information portrayed.

    >Anyways, look up xenophobia in the dictionary.
Way to misuse the word. If you were accurate in your assumption of my irrational fear or hatred I would be a bigot. Xenophobia refers to all things foreign or different.

    >You have it.
Of course that is the easy way for you to bring closure to yourself in this conversation. How unfortunate for you.

"These 50 years have brought untold suffering and destruction to the land and people of Tibet". Lamenting that Tibetan culture and identity were "nearing extinction", he said "even today Tibetans in Tibet live in constant fear ... regarded like criminals, deserving to be put to death".

Tibet's government-in-exile says that more than 80,000 people died between March and October of 1959 alone and that at least 200 more were killed last year when Chinese security forces clamped down on protests marking the anniversary.

As an Americanfag who has been living in China for 20 years, I just gotta say, fuck the haters. China rules. The truth is Chinese citizens have just as many "freedoms" as Americans and Europeans. Every country has it's problems, and China has quite a few of their own. Learn the culture of this country and get to know the people or fuck off. It's not any worse than the west.

Kung Fu film star Jackie Chan Monday admitted that he acted in a porn movie 31 years ago, responding to a report revealed by Hong Kong media, Information Times reported Tuesday.

"I had to do anything I could to make a living 31 years ago, but I don't think it's a big deal, even Marlon Brando used to be exposed in his movies," Chan said. "The porn movie at that time was more conservative than the current films," he said.

Hong Kong netizens tipped local media that Chan was in the porn movie "All in the Family" in 1975, with a porn movie star who was famous at that time.

The Hong Kong made movie, directed by Zhu Mu, was defined as a comedy. Dean Shek, Tien Chun, and Sammo Hung were also co-stars.
