Yep, I saw proof that the series is set in a alternative universe. I just saw the map on the opening scene.

    Dear NBC,
Please do not cancel your best show (I don't watch Life so I can't comment). At least not while Howie Do It is still airing

The map looked like it came from the old middle east during biblical times, except it replaces the classic biblical towns with the Kingdoms featured in this show.

I don't have a screencap of it however...

We already knew it was an alternate universe, but we don't know where it is in the world or when the Point of Divergence was.

    > we don't know where it is in the world

The commercials for the pilot said "What if the greatest country on Earth had a king?"

I hazard a guess that this is set in North America, with radically different borders surrounding the two nations in this story which may just have replaced Canada and the US.
    >> Anonymous 04/05/09(Sun)20:18 No.3237951
Interesting allegory. The show is based off of ancient Israeli history and is drawing parallels with the current land dispute between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Sameanon here. Again, the series is actually located in the Middle East where Israel, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon would be.

I recognized the name "Shiloh" as being another name for God in the Bible, as well as the David and Goliath reference from Episode 1, but beyond that I'm drawing a blank.

Then that means whoever made the commercials should either be fired, or was intentionally misdirecting the viewer to build suspense.

I also assumed it was North America, but I figured there were dozens of nations instead of 3 large ones.

I'm also assuming the timeline changed sometime in the 1800s, obviating WW1 and 2.

Seems like butthurt atheistfags aren't the only ones who are looking for a reason to eject their diarrhea all over "Kings."

I have a question: Do you see any Semitic Jews/Arabs in this flick?

    No? I don't either.

You're probably in the US, right? I don't know when it happened, but US networks have shifted their airing times by a few minutes so shows end right on the hour and lead right into the next show to retain the eyes. I'm in Canada and they haven't done that here, so we run 1-3 minutes ahead.
    >> Anonymous 04/05/09(Sun)20:33 No.3238100
the geographic location where this is taking place is irrelevant. They purposely don't mention anything besides the names of the countries.
