just watched the second episode and i have a couple questions.

first off, when michelle is meeting with silas near the end, what was it that he was reminding her of? i sort of missed that whole exchange i didn't really get what happened

also, is there any particular symbolism or meaning to the wrench? because david used a wrench-grenade combo in the first episode to get the goliath, and the guards used the same thing to get the birds.

    THIS SHOW IS SO GOOOODDD

    oh my freaking god

    the dialogue is very shakespearian

and the girl who plays the princess is fucking hot as shit

the main guy bugs me. the show is great so far but something about him seems to scream of terrible acting, but i can't tell yet
    >> Anonymous 03/23/09(Mon)22:46 No.3119355
Michelle has made a vow of some sort, we don't know yet, and Silas was reminding her of it to put distance between her and David.

I didn't notice the wrench-grenade this ep, but (fanwank) maybe they were emulating David.
    >> Anonymous 03/23/09(Mon)22:46 No.3119358
This show, just by the ads and shit, seems really shitty. It looks like one of those tv shows that's going to get cancelled after a season, and no one will even remember it. I kind of want to check it out, but at the same time, it reeks of awfulness.

They didn't say what it was. You didn't miss anything.

    >also, is there any particular symbolism or meaning to the wrench? because david used a wrench-grenade combo in the first episode to get the goliath, and the guards used the same thing to get the birds.
It could be... Writers and producers love to do stuff like that. Just look at Lost, though I hope this doesn't get that bad. If I have to watch episodes over and over again to catch every miniscule symbol, I'll get pissed.

    >>3119328 THIS SHOW IS SO GOOOODDD
I know. It's too bad it will probably end up canceled... Its ratings are complete shit.

    watch it

i generally don't have patience for drama series, but this one is just captivating and so good and everything perfect in life is this show.

okay not that far but it's one hundred percent worth a watch. the pilot is available for a free hd download on itunes i think it's still up.

Fuck this show. I'm a Patriot and I'm not going to watch some bullshit show made by Loyalist traitors. It's just Brit propaganda. If the Brits want to rule America again, they can try it. I've got my guns waiting right beside me.

She could of already been given to someone for marriage. Or it has something to do with Brian Cox's character. Don't know why that would effect a relationship with David though.

I was apprehensive till watched it and realised its not: "LOL WHAT IF AMERIKKA HAD A MONARCHY". Its more like an episode of sliders, sci fi alternate universe in which to tell a very specific story.

i...don't think it's a british show. it's on nbc. could be wrong.

it seems like an hbo or cinemax show though, except for the music which is basically the exact same as heroes music lol
    >> Anonymous 03/23/09(Mon)23:07 No.3119552
    Here's a thought.
Since they've already kicked Silas' son out of the closet, and there's always been speculation that the Biblical King David was gay, do you think they'll ever hint at anything like that? I sort of hope they will, but David's already mooning over the princess and I don't think the US is ready for a gay main character who isn't in a comedic role.
    >> Anonymous 03/23/09(Mon)23:09 No.3119572
idk it would seem contrived at this point since he's already got a love interest with the princess.

but i wonder what macaulay culkin did to get excommunicated from court hahaha

Not that I have anything against gays but I hope that doesn't happen. I like the romance plot between Dave and the princess which is a plot device I usually despise.
    >> Anonymous 03/23/09(Mon)23:10 No.3119584
I'm not an Amerifag so I haven't seen the commercials, but there's nothing in the show itself to suggest US WITH A KING. Gilboa is a small country, like a city-state, and there's an alternate history in play.

agreed it all seemed to speak more of a shakespearean plot rather than an american one

the only thing i can see to relate to current american affairs is the war they are fighting with gath takes place in a very deserty climate that seems a bit like our current war.
seems like all american-made shows and movies use a desert-based, middle-eastern country as their stock "enemy" country.

lolwut? The gath frontline appears to be rather muddy WWI esk trenches. The gath themselves being alot more American than the butterfly nation (generals and such). Theres also the fact the gath looked to be a superior force.

I honestly don't think the majority of US viewers would be able to handle even the slightest questioning of David's sexuality. He's your average white bread, red-blooded American boy, plus he's a war hero with a strong personality and moral system--everything gay people are not(on television anyway). When has American television ever portrayed a gay man as anything other than a nancing, limp-wristed fag or an emo, AIDS-riddled, "My daddy didn't love me" fag?

i'd like to petition to change the ratings system since it's pretty common knowledge that it is completely fucked up to the point of being irrelevant.

    >> Anonymous 03/23/09(Mon)23:21 No.3119659
ITT : Anon who like to waste their time watching a TV show that wont be renewed for a second season and will only last 10 episodes or less (since its ratings are shit and NBC might pull the show from its lineup). So there will never ever be any resolution to any of the plotlines/subplots and viewers will be left hanging.
    >> Anonymous 03/23/09(Mon)23:24 No.3119690
I'm not a Christfag but I've heard Davie and Jack-o might have got it on back in dinosaur times. The way this show is structured, David can't fall from grace so it might be an un-requited love on Jack's side.

IIRC Heroes gets good ratings. I pirate it and then read the thread here, and that's all it's good for, shitty pile of shit.

As far as Kings, I fucking love it, if it gets canceled, I give up on television.

God, I hope so. The story of David is chock full of sneaky little "are they or aren't they?" moments. I can only imagine what the fangirls were like back then.

So you're saying its impossible to discuss and enjoy a show because its going to be cut short? We can't enjoy Ian McShane's acting, an interesting setting or the delicious princess because we have to come to our own conclusions about the outcome of all the events?

Maybe because its the truth, or at least all the gays I know are that way. Most dads didn't have the same relationship with their other sons as the ones that turned gay....The gays I know. Not to say that's the reason why they turned gay.
