It's simple: The people who survived and colonized Earth just looked up in the sky and ctrl-v'd their constellations onto the stars they could see. Thus, they are the same, but it's not actually the same stars in the constellations.

The point of the show was to example a continuous existence. Existence or God, whichever you want to think, doesn't have set plans for things in our lives. But our existence and meaning is all continuous. There is no final grand scheme in which all ends and all questions are answered.

Thus the explanation that the angels gave to Baltar and Caprica.

The blank slate idea was perfect. New Caprica was an absolute failure, how was repeating themselves over again going to do anything differently?

I thought that for a finale for such an amazing show, it was brief with certain elements. Starbuck wasn't entirely explained in a way that really made sense. As she wasn't like the angels that baltar and caprica saw.

The series ended with Jimi Hendrix. Epic in that alone.
