I tried to watch this about a year ago, and while I really appreciate what they were able to do with 2D animation, I can also understand why the studios weren't willing to release the original cut of this film.

It's very interesting, and it's clearly an incredible work, but it was made without thought to the audience, and only a very small number of animation buffs are ever going to be interested in this thing.

It's a shame, really.

The thing was actually intended for mature audiences, so I understand why there'd be confusion. There's some violence and suggestive content in the original one. But seriously, shit like that is the reason Western animation will go nowhere, along with the abuse of 3D
