Can someone tell me how something like The Road gets a 7/10 on IMDB yet is clearly a 10/10 film where everything was executed properly? How the story ends is not up to the directors/producers, yet that seems to be why many people dont like it...
>>
everything was executed papa edition
>>
It's NOT a 10/10 film plebeian. No film is a perfect film. It's a mid 7 at best.
>>
Because a lot of people dislike depressing movies, end of story.
>>
>>27390103 (OP)

There's no accounting for taste.

>no film is a perfect film

then why is there an upper threshold for films, how is a film 9/10 or 10/10 when all that can really be accounted for is how things are executed. The Road could be labelled as a 7/10 if it was it's own story and not based on a novel, but the only thing left up to them was the sheer imagery and immersion and how all of the elements of the story were executed and they did it perfectly.

hi OP

you think the road is the best or among the best movies you've ever seen?

what others are right there with it if i may ask?
>>

And another thing, people are gloryifying TDKR as a 8/10 or even a 9/10 and its fucking ridiculous, thjere are so many glaring elements of the film that fell short, that the anticlimatic bane death and making him look like a pussy bitch should have brought the movie down 2 points as it was, not to mention the big bad villain was changed for the last 2 mins of the movie

sigh, retarded
>>
>10/10

No such thing, first of all; secondly, it's, maybe, a high 7. The high ratings it usually gets is merely due to setting and people crying to it.

>then why is there an upper threshold for films

Because there is always an impossible limit for any medium. Every film is not without problems [minor or major].
>>

Best movie i've seen would be far from it, it's not really my taste of movies but they couldn't have done the novel any more justice. It gets 10/10 in my book only because it achieved everything it could have possibly achieved, How else would it have been "better"? The acting was superb and the cinematography was amazing. The story was told well and provoked real emotion from people
>>
Movie wasn't that great. The movie was infinitely better in every aspect.
>>
>>27390279

fuck, im tired. i meant the book.
>>
Easily the most boring movie ever made.
>>
>>27390255

so the way it was presented was why you think it was 10/10

not story
not score
not groundbreaking camera work or lighting tech stuff
>>
>>27390279
I stopped reading the book about halfway through because I felt it wasnt giving me anything that I hadnt seen in the movie.
>>
I haven't read the book, so no comment on how the movie lived up to it but I thought the film had many weak points.

The actor playing the son did a horrible job, severe miscast. Definitely the weakest part of the movie. It felt like every situation was the kid fucking up and his daddy having to bail his out on repeat. Not to mention he sounded and looked like a little girl.

Did you even watch the movie? It portrayed all the elements of a nuclear winter, all of the credible threats, the feelings that would be held between families and people in that event, and the barren landscape and destroyed areas seemed as real as ever. Not to mention the sun being pretty much blocked out the entire film as another realistic element of a post nuclear event. There was no "hope" throughout the whole film like in I am legend or walking dead or some shit, they simply wandered and we were captivated by the very real things they had to go through. No plot devices, no random lucky encounters, just them making it through an interesting situation and very hard times, and showing the emotional struggle of wanting to continue on with no hope vs killing themselves like everybody else
>>
>>27390401

yeah i did watch it and liked it ok...

but 10/10 is on up there...

i was just curious why you would rate it so high
>>

>wahh 6yr olds suck at acting

Of course the kid would have grown into a feminine role, he grew up listening to his dad only, no friends, no goign to school, no tv, just kept up in a house from birth. He is such a bitch because he's never had any responsibility which you cant exactly blame him for.
>>
>>27390436
The only reason I personally give it a 10/10 is because it could not have been portrayed any better. A movie doesnt have to hit you deep down or amaze the fuck out of you for it to fill all criteria for a movie about a certain story.
>>
>>27390463

good enuff

thanks for your patience
>>
>>27390401
There was hope in the movie; however, it seemed they kept stumbling upon hopeless situations.
>>
if viggo's acting did not make you cry like a bitch you are not a human being
>>
Was it ever explained in the book or movie what the fuck happened exactly? I understand it's not about that, but I'm still curious.

let's not get carried away

Well in this case I mean hope as in some "New world order" that so many post apocalyptic movies introduce. Their only hope was really finding somewhere stable they could live safely eat and die, not some survivors colony in washington or something.
