Questions 8 and 9 are answered pretty easy. The Kraken's dead.

1. Barbosa was probably captain of his own ship but wanted the Black Pearl for himself. But you're right this part isn't really explained well.

2. Dutchman will usually pops up to take dying sailors for his own crew. They got lucky in finding him or Jack used his god mode compass.
