such a service does not exist in America. Even though we can model the
services after Britian (BBC, ITV are already broadcasting live on
cable), it's not going to happen.
Also unlike most countries,
the Broadcast networks in America are more decentralized, most programs
broadcast on local television stations are syndicated (talk shows,
court shows, and the like). This is why the broadcast networks opt for
an online on demand service rather than a linear internet tv service.
The
only possible way for a linear tv service is that each station
establishes some sort of system to broadcast the same content online as
it's broadcast locally.
tl;dr: The only way to watch tv channels
online is that the individual affiliates and local tv channels
establish a stream on their own.
P.S. Cable networks broadcasting online, not going to happen anytime soon. |
