/tv/, is there any way for me to watch networks like nbc, g4, comedy central etc. as it is shown on tv, online? Like an internet tv service? No, no tv tuners + cable suggestions, kthx. And I've seen those shitty programs that dont actually have live tv, but instead play videos of shows from 10 years ago, streaming them as a "channel".

Free or not, I just want to watch tv on my pc without extra hardware. Please, for fucks sake, there must be a way for me to sit here and watch it in some small window in the corner of my screen as I use the interweb.

I've never heard of such a service. Can I ask why you can't just watch tv on a tv?

Eh, internet is much more convenient, that's the main reason.

Look into SOPcast, last I checked they had live east and west coast feeds. It's kinda shitty though

If I had a Simpsons telly, I'd hug it everyday.

Well I checked out SOPcast, I don't know how to fucking use it, it has no specific networks, just a bunch of random shit, most of which seems to be asian.

Where did you hear it had live east and west coast feeds?
    >> Anonymous 12/17/08(Wed)20:12 No.2372729
Why isn't there like, one or two big time suppliers of internet cable? You'd think there would be, but all there seems to be is random online shit that has random shitty channels that I've never heard of.

Sadly, such a service does not exist in America. Even though we can model the services after Britian (BBC, ITV are already broadcasting live on cable), it's not going to happen.

Also unlike most countries, the Broadcast networks in America are more decentralized, most programs broadcast on local television stations are syndicated (talk shows, court shows, and the like). This is why the broadcast networks opt for an online on demand service rather than a linear internet tv service.

The only possible way for a linear tv service is that each station establishes some sort of system to broadcast the same content online as it's broadcast locally.

tl;dr: The only way to watch tv channels online is that the individual affiliates and local tv channels establish a stream on their own.

P.S. Cable networks broadcasting online, not going to happen anytime soon.

    Less shitty than SOPcast

I can verify that Comedy Central, SciFi, and CBS do work

Hey faggot, I didn't just spend 15 minutes of my day verifying this shit for you with no feedback.

    Does TVU work for you?

I really wanted some god damn G4TV though.

If I had a brofist, I'd give it to you, bro.

I checked out the comedy central and it's perfect for me, west coast live.

So my new quest is to find a live provider of G4 and NBC.
