I LOVED Avatar the Last Airbender, but really have no desire to watch this.

From what I can tell it stars some chick Avatar, and has no Sokka, Toph, Aang, Iroh, or any characters I loved in the original. Plus, I feel like the original show ended in such an epic way that any kind of conflict that takes place after would seem dull and minor in comparison to the war against the Fire Nation.

Plus all I hear about Korra is relationship BS. Is it really as good as the original show?

I personally believe it's a fantastic follow-up, separate from the original series, but reminiscent of the same spirit behind the first. I believe you can check out all of the episodes on Nick's website if you're interested.

They're some pretty solid characters, the villain's motivation is much better than Ozai's, and hinted flashback opprutunities of an alpha, grown-up Aang, Toph, and Sokka

As for the relationship bullshit, that's /co/ being /co/. Once there's nothing left to discuss about actual episodes and canon, they turn to conspiracies and crackships. Very little in the actual series.

I think it takes the series in a more socially sophisticated direction. The struggle is not bringing down the evil empire but building an alternative. Plus its addressing the kind of genetic feudalism that a lot of fantasy worlds wont (I.E. Star Wars, in which Jedi and Sith exchange power over the entire galaxy, with everyone else caught in the crossfire).

Its worth watching, it isn't TLA, which in my opinion is a good thing. Better than a rehash.

It really is going excellently so far. I don't think Bryke was just looking for extra dosh, they were looking to tell a completely separate story. It focuses mainly in a 1920's Jazz Age inspired city, as the main group combats a rising group of revolutionaries who oppose the 'bending elite'.

Also, their leader is voiced by Steve Blum, so fuck yeah.

This show is fucking excellent.
I loved the first series, seen it around 3 times, but already, I like this one more.
I was really worried this was gonna be some crappy rehash banking on the success of the first one trying to make bundles of cash, but this shit is actually really good.
If you're putting off watching it for any reason. Stop. Just watch it.
In my opinion every episode has been a 10/10 so far.
