I'm ok with this. Liked Tears of The Sun a lot since that dealt with lots of military tactic situations.

I'd have no problem with films that pays tribute to the bravery of soldiers, but putting Eminem and brostep in the tv spots makes it feel like they're trying to say war is FUN. Not only is that inaccurate, but it is incredibly disrespectful to soldiers IMO

Obviously this is a propaganda film whose success won't be measured in revenue, but in new recruits to the navy seals, but honestly who cares? If you're dumb enough to give in to propaganda, I'm glad you're killing yourself in the army.

I look at it more like a social filter.

Anyway, it still looks cool since it's using real SEALS who have choreographed every fight scene and have said that all those encounters have happened to them in their active duty at one time or another.

Although it'll probably shallow as fuck and give no look into the horridity of war, it'll still have a nice authentic look to it.

It'll mostly be about the visuals rather than substance (like most movies out nowadays) but at least it'll have an element of authenticity in it that will rise it up above the rest.

still probably won't compare to Black Hawk Down though

Looks like an interesting movie. Despite the cries of propaganda, the whole marketing behind this movies was that it shows what a SEAL mission is really like and stars active duty SEALs. I know the story and writing will suck, but to see how an elite squad of secret warriors work is kind of interesting, all political bullshit aside.

That's kind of the mentality I'm going with. If the whole point is that it's gonna show off realistic combat tactics and what not, and they frame most of the action around that, I'll be cool with it. I'm certainly not expecting any sort of acting beyond the decent or, at worst, amateurish, but hey, of the action is good, then I'll be willing to to give it a watch.

Why didn't they just make a documentary? What advantage do they have in making it a narrative? It's probably more expensive, more difficult, and above all, makes for a worse cinematic experience.
