This /v/ comic has changed my life. While I don't play video games, I still sit around on the internet a lot and go for days without showering unless I have to go somewhere and get out of a car. This was especially bad because at the time I was listening to a Japanese sound track for Kaiji, a show I've never seen (don't like anime) but still it doesn't matter if it's awesome or not I still felt like a weeaboo.

I just shaved and signed up early for spring classes at a CC. Tomorrow, I will pound the pavement searching for a job. I'm twenty years old and I've never had a job although my parents used to pester me about getting one. I guess they've just given up.

OP here, walked into the first store that I heard was hiring and filled in an application for a job. Gave it to the manager, she told me they weren't hiring at the moment but "they'd call me if something opened up". In other words, no job.

Too much effort, I think I'll just cling to my internet delusions until it's too late to change for the better and then end it all.

    lol, bullshit.

you can totally get a job with no experience. a shitty job yeah, but a job nonetheless. once you get some cash then go try to find an internship somewhere.

once thats all over you get yourself a decent job and work your way up from there.

...I'm nearly 20 and still in high school. Well, not IN high school, I'm homeschooled. I'm so so far behind because I have nothing to motivate me, like i would in public school. I did start a year late due to medical issues, but that's no excuse for my faggotry. My parents don't help me with anything but food/shelter, so my education rests on my shoulders... And I'm fucking this up. I haven't studied or anything in, God, it's been weeks.

No more. I'm not going to sit here on the computer/PS3 all day anymore. I'm going to finish this shit and get my ass out in the world and live. Starting tomorrow, I WILL NOT REST until I have my GED. Then I will go to college. I'll gain social skills, I'll get a job, I'll push myself and I will succeed.

If you don't get a job immediately do not give up and fall back into your old ways, start doing calisthenics and alter your eating habits slowly (going cold turkey is hard especially if you're a fat food junky like I once was). Don't sit around waiting for a call after applying at a few joints, make a point to go out and hit up as many places as possible, even if they don't seem to be hiring at the moment.

Everyone commits faux pas every now and then, even those with great social skills so don't sweat it too hard when you walk into that first store and everything feels as if it goes wrong (you try to give a good smile and look friendly, you end up giving a nervous quick smirk and a hurried "I'dliketoapplyforajobplease", on the way out, you push rather than pull). Once you've done it once, you realize that it isn't a big deal. It's embarrassing, but people in real life aren't going to act like assholes as they do on the internet.

    Live and learn.

OP, you reinforced my decision and gave me hope. I always just played WoW (yeah yeah I know;) and thought everything was fine. Held a job for six months and that was it. Now, I'm dirt poor with no job and noticed that I did NOT want to work in a factory for the rest of my life.

I am a good reader, and was in the gifted classes throughout school. I became lazy, and they kicked me out of them. My grades followed as I just let homework slide. I got out, worked a job for six months, and then quit.

A year later, here I am with $3 in my savings account and 65 cents in my checking. I am calling my advisor tomorrow to ask about classes and visiting with my friends mother about her take on medical classes (she's a nurse). I am putting in more applications tomorrow. Thing are looking up, I'm just scared as hell.

Godspeed, OP. Things will work out.
