The Appeal of Godzilla is the fact that its a dude in a suit stomping on little toys.
That being said The US version is alright.

I am surprised, it seems like people in here feel like me when i was expecting the opposite.

Because it was scatter brained, they couldn't decide whether the audience should be rooting for or against Zilla. Zilla spent most of the movie RUNNING AWAY from the army whereas Godzilla's thing has always been that he goes face forward into every obstacle taking it's best shot. The humans were boring and unfunny (LOL SISKEL AND EBERT). Zilla couldn't stop changing size and could teleport, or so it seemed. The Zilla babies and final chase made it into a Jurassic Park clone. The Zilla babies could only escape through the front door as opposed to the GIANT HOLE IN THE ROOM THAT THEY WERE BORN IN.
Ultimately, it's not a terrible monster movie, but it is NOT a Godzilla movie.

I don't get what you're going on about or why you're emphasizing that point because its pretty far off. The babies never tried to escape, they were chasing the humans. The bomb goes off almost as soon as they get to the doors meaning there is no time to escape. They didn't have time to get through the hole. I'm sure a giant raging fireball followed wherever that hole lead anyway.

I didn't really 'hate' this movie.. but I definatley preferred Godzilla 2000.
Corny, bad acting japanese guys with thier speech outta sync with the words, and some dude in a big rubber suit.
This, my friends, is the soul of Godzilla.
I give them credit for trying to reboot the franchise, or whatever.. ((and Ferris Bueler is a pretty decent actor.. sometimes..)) but overall, it didn't have that classic 'feel' to it.
I rate this in my personal category of 'popcorn movies'
Movies that have alotta fancy effects, and badass CG with explosions out the ass, and rake in shitloads of cash. But then.. wither away slowly, and soon gets overtaken by the next bigger, shiner thing.

Why the hate? Because the name Godzilla is one of the most iconic of all-time. When you hear that name you think of a giant monster destroying a city and getting into a fight with a giant monster. When you saw this movie neither of these two things happened. Instead, Ferris Bueller was the main character and Godzilla looked very weak. On top of that creature design was complete shit. Wanna know why all of this happened?

That is all you need to know. This movie should have been one of the top five grossing movies of all-time; Godzilla with a budget and American effects, instead it was an abortion.

I like it better than the 60s and 70s Godzilla movies, to be honest. Still, it's not a proper Godzilla movie.
