  • Happy 8th Birthday, 4chan *click*

Server/posting issues should be resolved now.

Portland, OR folks: You are invited to drink beers, play arcade games, and eat delicious donuts.
The *tentative* plan is to meet up Saturday, at 10PM @ Ground Kontrol ($2 cover after 9PM, 21+ after 5PM), and grab donuts at Voodoo after midnight.
If anything changes I'll post it to @4chan on the Twitter (so follow it if you're thinking about coming).

As a fan of Moffat I can tell you I think you're an idiot. He's written some brilliant episodes, but the arc eps this season have been far too compact for most people to enjoy them.

There's nothing wrong with having a mixed opinion of someone's work; as much as I think Davies writing led to childish episodes I believe he wrote better season arcs.

I was just kidding bro. While Moffat is a great writer, some episodes have had too much info in a short period of time. Moffat works better if he has more time in an episode. LKH would've been better if it was a 2 parter. But RTD's arcs were pretty much non-existent. They only came up at the last 2 episode of a Series. Like Vote Saxon, or Bad Wolf, etc. etc.

In the Lodger episode (and a couple others that season) Amy looks over to something off-screen, has a shocked look on her face, screams for the Doctor, then when she turns away from it she suddenly forgets about it.

This happened a few times that season.

Eight has some great ones but Six and Sevens are damn good. Loved the stuff with Lucie too.

Just finished the entire Ace and Hex run with Seven as well as the Klein trilogy.

Funny that "A Death In The Family" does almost the exact same story as The Impossible Astronaut but came out 4 months earlier.

People always say that David Tennant's run as the Doctor was held back by the writting, but I don't think thats the case at all. David Tennant was a good Doctor because he took the shitty jokes and made them funny. He took the shitty drama and made it believable. He took boring relationships between companions and made it look like love.

I love Matt Smith but he just isn't half the actor that David Tennant was.

    >he took the shitty jokes and made them funny. He took the shitty drama and made it believable. He took boring relationships between companions and made it look like love.

Oh, is this the latest approach now?

He didn't do any of those bloody things because it was all still heinously cringeworthy.

One thing I like about the books is that they can show more of the Doctors physical abilities that couldn't be shown in the series. Stuff like his rapid healing (getting his heart ripped out and recovering ect ect), being able to break down alcohol (but spike his drink with ginger beer and he'll be pissed pretty quickly).

Also the whole plot of Camera Obscura, the whole being unable to die thing was brilliantly done but they wouldn't be able to show the extent of it in the show. Like him spending half the book with his ribs sticking out his back.

A Death in the Family is the sequel to another but an ending of a longstanding story arc with the companion Hex.

If you do listen there might be a fair bit you don't quite get but it'll definitely be on Demonoid

Best episode with the Eleventh Doctor:

Death of The Doctor (Sarah Jane Adventures)
    The Doctor's Wife
    Closing Time

Hes best when there is little to no amy around him.

seriously though , anyone who thinks The doctor will actually die is out of their tiny minds, with all the doppelganger flesh and crap thas gone down this time coupled with the sheer fact that he has sooo many regens left (there is no such thing as not being able to regenerate quick enough, the very idea is a ridiculous invention entirely for LKH this series) either a) there is 2 doctors, note the earlier posts by people coloured bow ties etc etc, there is a flesh doctor? orrrrr as the past was changed and river is now an adult in that bloody suit something very different is going to happen all together, either way, they make it child friendly so as epic as this finale may or may not be there is absolutely no chance were saying bye to the doctor.

If for some reason the xmas episode is not on Christmas day and on that day I won't be able to do the pre thread. I'm only saying this because it's a Saturday and Moff and the BBC is constantly changing the schedule for DW
