Where's the comic or movie about a superhero that has to deal with diffuse social problems like urban neglect or the failing school system, or the way that short-sighted economic policy and exploitative lending policies by the IMF and World Bank have prompted many impoverished regions to rebuild their economies around resource extraction?

Then he let's Jake plummet to his death, in order to continue pursuing Flagg
Roland, at least in the first couple of books, isn't a fucking saint by any means, it's made quite clear that he's only out for himself.
