The Dark Knight was the most overrated movie in recent memory. Bale's voice was ridiculous, Ledger's performance was only considered good because he died IRL, and Two-Face's role in the series was squandered by giving him minor screentime then killing him off.

It's not that we have anything against both of those villains, we just felt Nolan wouldn't pick them. Black Mask was especially considered because he's been getting a lot more attention as of late in the comics, as well as an appearance in the new Batman animated movie.

For Dent, the way I see it is that whether he's really dead or not depends entirely on whether they need him for this movie or not. If they wrote themselves into a corner and ran out of plausible villains they could use him, but I can't see that happening.

I would assume Dent is dead. I don't think Nolan would like the idea of ruining the importance of his death from the end of TDK, it's not like him.

I think (and hope) that Hardy will play Bane. Consider this: Hardy just got done playing a tour de force role as Charlie Bronson, a British folk-hero/prisoner, where he had to gain 40 lbs of muscle. Not only did he alter himself but it was an amazing performance. Also in the Nolan-verse, Bane wouldn't have to be all Hulk-ish and CGI huge, just buffed up and really strong.

He could be hired by a more mobb-ish character like Black Mask, Dr. Strange, or maybe even someone like Rupert Thorne to come and reel in the bat.

Also, with Rachel dead, Bats needs a new love interest, and I don't know why everyone harps so much for Talia al Ghul. She's too obscure for non-fans and I don't see Nolan tying her in with her father.

This is why Cat-woman is the most obvious femal role, and she will more than likely be of the thief-turned vigilante-love interest, and will end up helping Bats out of a bind wit Bane + whoever else.

My money is on Catwoman. But not the traditional, sexy, throwaway catwoman we've known for years. No. A while ago, I heard a pitch somewhere on the net for an older, more mentally unstable catwoman. A woman who believes herself to be God's gift to earth, but in reality is a dammaged, violent psychopath. She'd be less of a large-scale villain, more of a serial killer than anything. Zsaz isn't a strong enough antagonist to carry a whole film. He's a secondary villain at best. I still say Bane and Catwoman. For the sake of popularity and well, profits, Nolan will make a lot more money with villains non-comic centric fans know. Plus Bane is lot more marketable and different enough of a villain that he won't seem too much like the Joker or Scarecrow for non-comic fans to yell "rehash." Remember, audiences are dumb. It'll give audiences something fresh if Batman actually got to fight someone stronger than him, unlike the last two films. That's why most of /tv/'s ideas wont work. Part 3 needs a brute, something the last 2 films didn't have.
