/tv/, I'm downloading some Classic Who, what are some really great story arcs I should get? Great in this sense can mean genuinely awesome or hilariously bad, mind you.

    So far I have:

    The Time Monster
    The City of Death
    Castrovalva
    Mark of the Rani

    What else?
    >> Anonymous 06/24/10(Thu)18:24 No.10384944
    Pyramids of Mars
    Genesis of the Daleks
    Earthshock
Caves of Andronozzi (or however it's spelled)

Awesome, thank you. Another question, what are some good Master episodes? He was my favorite New Who villain.

You should check out this wiki.

    http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Doctor_Who_Wiki

Most of the best Master episodes are with Pertwee, but I'm rusty on my 3rd Doctor knowledge.

The Deadly Assassin is a good one, you also get to see a lot of Gallifrey and the Time Lords in that episode.

Skip the 1st Doctor. He is annoying, grumpy, feeble, and worthless. He spends his time getting people into trouble, and then they have to get him out of it.

ok here we go.. *cracks fingers*
oh and btw, classic who didn't have story arcs (except key to time and trial of a time lord and the first season of tom baker with the time ring and the ark in space) so i am guessing you are a newfag.
An Unearthly Child. - the first ever story. its a little boring but it helps realize how much the doctor has changed.
The daleks - yeah its not got a very good story but its the first dalek one.
    The dalek invasion of earth
the tenth planet - first regeneration, first cybermen

not much for 2 but of what there is left watch the following.
    The tomb of the cybermen
    THe seeds of death
    the invasion
    the war games

    for three
    terror of the autons
    the daemons
    The three doctors
    frontier in space
    planet of the daleks
The time warrior - first sontaran
Planet of the spiders - shitty effects good story

    four
Genesis of the daleks - first davros
    terror of the zygons
    pyramids of mars
    the brain of morbius
    The hand of fear
    The deadly assassin
    The robots of death
    the talons of weng chiang
    The invasion of time
Key to time - the ribos operation, the pirate planet, the stones of blood, the androids of tara, the power of kroll, the Armageddon factor.

    fifth doctor
    earthshock
    arc of infinity
    five doctors
black guardian trilogy - mawdryn undead, terminus, enlightenment
    the caves of androzani

Sixth - not much cos of bad writing
Attack of the cybermen (ignore the shitty cryons)
    The two doctors
    revalation of the daleks
Trial of a time lord - its up to you if you watch the four stories that make up this season. its so-so

    seven
    Dragonfire
    remembrance of the daleks
    silver nemesis
    battlefield
    ghost light
    the curse of fenric

Add The Sensorites to the 1st and Mind Robber to the 2nd.

Also, I didn't care much for the 5 Doctors. They hardly spend any time together, Tom Baker is in it for about 10 seconds, and they recast the 1st Doctor. meh

and now that i think about it
the time meddler for the first
and the web planet (if you can stand the costumes)
    and the keys of marinus

yeah 5 doctors isn't very good but i thought richard hurdnall did a great job as the first doctor. and it offered the wisest line in history in terms of comparing doctors
Brigadier said it. - splendid chap all of them

It didn't have season long arcs, but it was serialised stories split over multiple episodes. I'm faily certain OP's allowed to refer to something like that as arc. No need to be a dick to the guy dude.

Also they've hit the point where they resemble the old alien Cybermen so closely it's almost pointless having them be a different type.

Happiness Patrol I personally would put on par with Remembrance, had they evolved Candyman further, and really showed him to be the danger he was supposed to be, despite his uber-campy design.

The final scene with the Doctor and Helen A MADE that a terrific serial, and one of the most imposing scenes with the Doctor ever!

The Cyberman gold alergy was bullshit. Their original few appearances had them kiled by clogging their respirators with gold dust. Any thick enough dust would do but they had gold on hand. Somehow that mutated into GOLD = CYBER KRYPTONITE.

Five got the only good, feasible use f it: Jamming a fucking chunk of gold into the respirator then shooting it to death while it choked.

The first time the Daleks appear they work because of static electricity and can only move on metal surfaces. They've become more powerful over time and RTD only added a small amount to that.

Also, shields was supposed to be the reason for this atrocity of of a scene, but it was the 80s and they didn't have the tech to show it.

I wasn't saying gold impaired them, I'm saying the Earthshock example was the best use of gold to kill cybermen. The thing was going to choke to til it died anyway but the Doctor shot it to death first in his rage. Later examples like Silver Nemesis were like Superman + a kryptonite bullet.
