    New Korea thread.

Seoul info: (credits to fellow anon)
Hongdae- The college town part of Seoul. This is where the young people are, this is where the clubs are, this is where the hip and the beautiful of Korea go to drink and cavort.

Itaewon- a famous shopping district, crowded by foreigners. Everything can be found here. You can buy antique diving bells and boat parts from sailing ships or leather jackets for 50 bucks. Buy knives and brass knuckles from street vendors. Go to Subway, or Taco Bell, or Baskin Robins. See Nigerians, white folks, indians.

Myeongdong- If Itaewon is a foreigner trap that has everything, Myeongdong is strictly fashion. Department stores of every shape and size, with ice cream parlors and coffee shops on every corner, street vendors hawking hats, jewelry, and socks.

Yongsan- The digital market. Nothing is list price. Browse for laptops, haggle down to a 20 or 30% discount with cash in hand. ipods, laptops, cameras, cellphones- if you're a technophile and you brought money with you, you want to be here.

Coex mall- A massive underground mall, home of the Coex Aquarium, the largest aquarium in Korea. Their crowning feature is their giant shark tank.

Wonderland- not technically in Seoul, and kind of a bitch of a bus trip, but still fun. the Korean Disneyland, with the world's steepest wooden roller coaster.

You can find everywhere on this list on the Seoul metro, just looking for the name on the subway stops. Except of course for Wonderland.

The Seoul Metro is completely multilingual the whole way through, and will have english and korean names on everything. in more populous parts, like the green line, it will also have japanese and chinese.

Also, stay out of any street or alley that has what looks like a giant tarpaulin across the entrance to obscure it from the street. These are redlight districts. Alternatively, seek them out, because these are redlight districts.

    cont'd
also, when you get off the plane and get to where you want to be in Seoul, korean people, usually the dudes as they're more aggressive about it, will have no problems walking up to you and chatting you up to practice their english. If you see an American or a Canadian, you can talk to them too.

The natives are pretty friendly and if you chat one up that speaks decent english you can get chaperoned around by a local and they can take you to some good spots.

If you don't get ambushed by a native (unlikely) then just asked any random american or canadian foreigner on the street, if they're bald or buzzed they'll be soldiers, if they have hair, they'll be foreign teachers. Regardless of what they are, they usually have a taste for partying and can show you to a good restaurant or club.

Yo, I'm down in the Kunsan / Gunsan region. Whats good to do here? Specifically clubs or any sort of place like that. I did find a bar I really liked in Gunsan not to far from the Lotte-cinema called "Luxury".

Inexpensive. If you plan on using the subway frequently, get a T-Money card at a convienence store... you'll save a bit of money if you do.

The entrance fee is 900 won. That'll get you a couple of stops. After that, you're charged 100 won for each additional 5km.

...It's really not that expensive at all. It's incredibly easy to figure out.
