    I've always wanted to see old damascus but unfortunately it's near one of the less than welcoming parts of the world where various uncouth ne'er-do-wells wish to visit all manner of unpleasantries against your person.

    Syria is one of the safest countries in the Middle-east. Like the other replier said, it's awesome and very fun.

    I have been to many cities in the islamic world and I have been treated great. If anything, they go out of their way to be nice to you to prove they aren't durka durka blow up America types. Dont mention Israel though. It isn't like most people who live in a metro city actually want jihad, in-fact quite the opposite.

    Everyone who I know ever went to Syria loved it.
