I think you will like this:

    >So, yeah, even though Throne of Bhaal wrapped up the story (perfectly) people used to rant and rave and rumormonger about a (genuine) sequel to Baldur's Gate. Sure, we got the spin-off games, but those weren't REALLY Baldur's Gate games, were they.

    >And even though it's been a while... it looks like there may actually be something to indicate a new game after all? Well, I kind of doubt it, but it never hurts to get the rumor mill spinning; if there was a sequel/remake, how would you want to see it handled? Things of that nature. Anyway, here's the inciting element:

    >The site was registered on 13. February 2012 (or last week). It has a(n apparently) new high-resolution Baldur's Gate logo, and a(n apparently) new, better-quality remix of the original Baldur's Gate theme in the background. According to some posters in the PC board's thread (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/916373-pc/62021105) the site does NOT appear to belong under EAs umbrella, but apparently someone in the Steam forums has found that "Baldur's Gate" has been added to the Steam registry.

    >What does all this mean? Well, probably nothing. The odds of there being any news regarding anything related to the name "Baldur's Gate" are about as small as the odds of waking up and finding out that your foster father was a prescient, psychopathic (and deceased) diety.

I dont think they will make a 4e game, knowing how it didnt great at sales, and that game is some old-school rpg with fucking ad&D rules. People who want the remake are exactly the opposite kind of people who played 4e.

Neverwinter Nights, The Witcher and Dragon Age were good in their own right and mind, but they all bow in shame if compared to the masterwork that is the Black Isle series of Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment.

AH! If they make a new Baldur's Gate game in the same line that the old ones took... I am shivering with just the thought of spending hours in the character creation screen once again!

I'm assuming the Feb 13th is when this page went up. And the Infinity Engine was the game engine all those D&D games were made on. Does this mean they're updating the old engine? If so, it would suggest a more "old school" approach if this is in fact a sequel.

They would update it to 4E, make it impossible to use a character from BG2, and hell, the plot was already wrapped up. There are no loose ends except Sarevok's ultimate fate. There's nothing more to *do* with the plot, you would need an entirely new idea that just has "Baldur's Gate" plastered on the title, like those horrible Dark Alliance games.

You and all realize that True AD&D, comprising 25 years of Dungeons and Dragons as executed by TSR, is the superior Edition. 0E + BD&D + AD&D + AD&D 2E have been run by superior engines? Explain. Are you too upset by the fact that the Unearthed Arcana barbarian is playable, or the fact that the 1E monk has returned in BG2, to admit that these are in fact elements that are of True AD&D?

I see you're a real player of D&D, only wanting to play the same campaign over and over again with the same character record sheets and encounters and railroad plots.

We must make sure that BG3 dies due to lack of interest, for only if it is the exact same game, beginning from Level 40 (BD&D Immortals rules?), will it be any good. The "Infinity" in Infinity Engine is meant ironically. It's not all about providing an engine to run any D&D campaign you'd ever want.

    So where's Minsc?

And why are we excited about sequels for 10 year old games again? Don't we ever learn?

Hey, Deus Ex 3 was great. I, at least, asked for this.

God I hope not. The last thing I want is for the video industry to start producing remakes instead of original ideas. Yes, these old games were awesome, but now it's time to move on.

Minsc is either with your character adventuring in Baldur's Gate area, dead, not born yet, or retired. For Baldur's Gate 3 must be set circa Dale Reckoning 1358-1372, for it will be executed using True AD&D.

Minsc is dead. The player character is Boo, out for revenge.

Yeah, it's not like they made multiple games out of AD&D or 3e, right? Oh wait.

Also, from what little we know, it looks like Neverwinter co-op will be *very loosely* based on 4e. Which makes sense, since 4e is even harder to adapt to real-time no-grid than 3e.

Granted, I can't think of a case with a 10 years break, but still. It could happen.

That baldursgate.com page looks like some high end modders finally caught the attention of the guy who owns the source code. Look for mindblowing mods soon for the best game ever.
