    Pathfinder question.

I know that when they first came out /tg/ was pretty much saying Gunslingers where shit tier. Now that they're out I wanted to know if that opinion still stands.

I really can't tell how they would perform, as they seem like a class with a lot of little things that they can do and I'm not sure how well they'd flow overall in a fight. They seem to have good skills/HD/BAB/proficiencies so I suppose that's a general plus.

INB4 play a caster. I want to know how they stack up against non wiz/sorc/cleric/druids
INB4 argument about the previous statement.

well, i dunno much about pathy, but my instincts tell me its a ranged class and non spellcasters who fight at range tend to suck so much ass

I made a Gunslinger in Pathfinder, and they are fucking tits. Fun fact: Within a certain range: Pathfinder guns shoot touch AC. And the ranged feats are no joke.

    Theyre not bad, just average.
I just find it fucking stupid that they get a skill that allows them to shoot a lock open.
...how the fuck does that need to be a specific skill?
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)21:29 No.17160808
The general consensus is that they are distinctly average. Tier 4, probably. The biggest problem with them is that they only have a few distinct builds that are feasible, and several rulings are open to DM interpretation (IE he could fuck you over). You need a sound understanding of game mechanics with gunslingers or you end up with a pile of trash.

What kind of distinct builds? I recognize a few things that need attention (mainly finding a way to get multiple attacks per round and picking the correct weapon for your class ability/rapid reload) is there anything to avoid?

The problem with gunslinger the way I see it, it's they just aren't heroic enough
    >> Anonymous 12/09/11(Fri)21:38 No.17160892
They'd probably be better if firearms weren't so terrible.

    And it wasn't in Caster-edition.

    >they are fucking tits

I am unfamiliar with this phrase. It seems negative, but the context seems to make it lean the other way.

I can't recall off the top of my head, but I remember pretty much you need to be either a specialised TWF pistoleer OR musketeer, and that there are a lot of trap feat trees which lead nowhere. Both of the strong builds rely on particular rulings from your DM (TWF pistoleer RAW doesn't work at all because you can't reload your guns.. but any DM worth his salt will go easy on this. Everything else relies on being able to get full attacks using the feat and that particular ammo type, which RAW is iffy and again relies on your DM).

Any class that can be royally buttfucked by one uneducated call from your DM is going to have trouble, unless you know your DM well and he isn't a huge penis.

Yeah, it seems like they having perfect BAB is just for the whole accuracy spiel. Musketeers must spend a full round action reloading, thus making all those attacks useless. Even with Rapid Reload, he reloads as a Standard Action. I think this could be circumvented by making a breechload firearm that makes reloading quicker.
