/tg/, let's assume you come into the possession of a Behelit. Not necessarily a crimson Behelit, but a Behelit nonetheless.

Let's say the Behelit activated (who am I kidding, it will activate if it found its way into your possession). Let's say you accepted the Godhand's offer (yet again, who am I kidding).

If you were allowed to choose your new warped, demonic form, what would it be?

of what profit is a man who gains the world at the cost of his own soul?

I don't generally buy the whole "immortality is terrible you would hate it" angst of vampire bullshit, but quality of life is relevant. Pokey might be fine being immortal, immobile in a tiny box, beyond the end of time, but that isn't my bag. being able to have friends is kind of important to me.

Being a Godhand kind of means you are suffering, and everything near you, even stuff you take near you after the conversion, are cursed to suffer in misery.

I'd be cool with Highlander style immortality, though.

No, ok, guys, I got this.

I would be like, a giant praying mantis, but I'd have a human face (except for the mantis eyes) and instead of a lower body I'd have a hugely long snakelike tail. My exoscalesaton would be dark mottled black/brown, but every time my huge wingshells clicked open for a moment you'd see buzzing prismatic wings that glow like a HARMONY HARMONY rainbow and constantly flick off whirling shards of rainbow light. I'd take flight at dusk and dawn, and the sun's light shining through my rainbow wings would enthrall all who saw it, just as a low thrumming vibration of my flight would worm its way into their heads and drive them mad.

I've thought about this for a long time.

Because those religions didn't have a Judeochristian view of hell. The Grecian afterlife had some nice places in it if you were a decent guy. Many christians doin't even have that view of hell, namely because there's damned little to actually support it biblically. Unless you bring in apocryphal materials, best reasoning says you just die.

    The veiled fiend.

At first glance it appears normal, a slightly chubby humanoid of no discernably remarkable qualities.

However this nonthreatening image is a facade, as the face you see is in fact the face of one of its victims. It is drawn to the radiating feelings of self-loathing and depression that befalls many of the outcast, the ugly, the average, and it offers to make them beautiful.

In return they only need give it one thing: their face, which the fiend devours directly off of their head.. it's tiny, slitlike mouth erupting into a hellish thicket of hooked tongues that latch onto the skin and suck it off. The recipient is blissfully unaware at this point, having been lulled into a deep sleep by the hypnotic gyrations of the bulbous growths that serve as the fiend's eyes

When the recipient awakens they find that their visage has taken on a shining, beautiful new form, and indeed their body too has become slim, muscular, a paragon of the Olympian ideal.

Meanwhile the fiend digests the face of its victim, an imprint of which slowly begins to form on its engorged belly. When it is fully formed the fiend peels its new identity off and wears it that it may walk among men once more.

Eventually however, the 'veil' grows rotten, and the fiend casts it aside to seek another. At this moment the old pact was broken, and the former recipient of beauty unparalleled awakens to find their skin missing, their body bloated.... their life ruined forever

    From RPGnet's wiki:
    >Juicer Problem
    >Any time a game gives PCs an option for significant power with drawbacks that would be horrific to a real person, but, since the PC is not a real person, the drawback is not compelling.
    >Usage: "He's going to kill my character's wife if I don't give him back the superweapon? She's not a PC, it's not like I care. Man, this is just a Juicer Problem."
    >The term is a reference to Juicers in Rifts whose awesome combat power was balanced by a significantly shortened lifespan. This would be horrific to any real person, but unlikely to faze any players since it's rare that enough time passes in-game for it to be an issue.

Maybe have some fluff-related tragedy or flaw kick in? This Behelit mechanic seems ripe for the point where thespians and min-maxers meet - you have to convincingly RP to win over the DM that , yes, your guy's life is shit, and still have to manage the costs. Maybe some mechanical costs, too - as much as I love being a min-maxer, unbalanced homebrew isn't fun.

Maybe you spend one half-hour undergoing the Apostle transformation (as befell Griffith in the manga - not exactly half an hour but bear with me). Moments of blind berserker rage, depending on character class? Any other bright ideas?

Perhaps as among a group for people who were actors or dramafags (like me) who'd be willing to work with characters as 'people' rather than 'sheet with numbers on it'.

Any ideas for a mechanical drawback to activating behelit? maybe a roll where one has to be stupid low on HP with permanent cost to COn if you fail? Or maybe you have to do a CHA check against the Godhand to prove your worthiness?
