Not OP but I downloaded it, quality is pretty low, heavy macroblocking

Video Quality could be a little better, but overall performance is fairly decent.
    Thanks, Anon.

    op here
I looked but couldn't find a better quality version- it was a nico nico broadcast- think Japanese Youtube if you don't know what that is.

As for how they did it, they used Musion Eyeliner technology. From wikipedia- The Musion Eyeliner is a modern commercial variation of a stage illusion called Pepper's ghost, using high definition video projection or LED screens to allow moving images to appear within a live stage setting.

The system works by placing thin metallised film across the front of the stage at angle of 45 degrees towards the audience; recessed below the screen is a bright image supplied by an LED screen or powerful projector. When viewed from the audience's perspective, the reflected images appear to be on the stage.

Pause the video during any of the wide angle shots and you can see the screen, especially when the stage is brightly lit.
    >> Anonymous 04/15/10(Thu)02:23 No.393761
You can even see the screen in the picture above, the thick bar along the top is the top of the screen, you can see the fans reflected in the metallic screen.

Also the two bright green lights in lower right corner are the projectors, you can even see some backscatter off of dust like you'd see from a movie projector in a dark theater.
    >> Anonymous 04/15/10(Thu)02:58 No.393763
Sorry, Vocaloid noob here. A few questions.

Is it true the character voices are 100% synth?

I thought most of the Vocaloid content was user made on the internet, how is it that there are concerts and albums being sold? I thought no one officially owned the Miku character.

I see Vocaloid stuff all over (Miku), is it the most popular pop trend in Japan?
    >> Anonymous 04/15/10(Thu)04:44 No.393774
While alot of the stuff on the net is fanmade there's plenty of "official" stuff as well. There was a vocaloid videogame Project Diva and anything vocaloid done by the synth band Supercell, a good number of what you find on the internet is fanmade videos of official songs.
    >> Anonymous 04/15/10(Thu)04:53 No.393776
Also remember that this is from Japan. The company that owns Vocaloid, Crypton, actively recruits fan song makers and professionals to create albums, and those people being interviewed in the middle of the concert are probably some of them.

As far as rights are concerned, the actual voice synthesizers are considered a musical instrument to be used however you see fit, but the character designs and personalities are owned by Crypton.

I cant wait for better light projection technology so that the character can have more freedom of movement and a realtime render with some AI for improvisation and fan interaction etc.
    >> Anonymous 04/17/10(Sat)03:15 No.394090
I have to say that I really admire the pains they went through to make it as realistic as possible. Little stuff like winking and grinning, and seemingly looking at specific people in the audience. High energy dances are followed by more sedate ones as if to keep her from tiring, and there are no impossible dance moves. Aside from the yahoo ball, quick costume changes for the multi-costume medley, Len jumping out from behind Rin, the static fade end to the song about being uninstalled, and the low res video game version of Miku there were no special effects that cant be found in a normal performance.
    >> Anonymous 04/17/10(Sat)03:31 No.394091
^but what about the part where she sings super fast. : P

That was cool though. That sort of illustrates the reality of the presentation.. its a computer. They kind of "remind" us twice during the preformance that she's a machine with those 2 songs that go suuuuuuuuper fast. haha that one near the end was silly but the fast song following the Interview was COOL.

I can't believe. I've been seeing this vocaloid stuff all over the net for months now, disregarding it and this show made me a fan. *sigh*.. : )

And also, yes, the people who actually composed the songs did go on stage to perform on the keyboard and other such instruments.
