I remember years ago there was some kind of proto-[as] anime block that showed up every Saturday night. Late at night they showed shows like Ruroni Kenshin, .hack//SIGN, Ghost in the Shell, and FLCL a few times.

It wasn't Toonami or [as], it was some bizarre thing that seemed to have an 8bit video game theme. I've never been able to really describe it well and most people I mention it to don't remember it.

They showed one on local tv, which was insane! But rare.
