This strategy of letting the opponent score almost never happens. I can't remember one game where a coach actually tried this. Usually, the coach will try to make the kicker miss by calling time outs and getting in his head. I can't remember the last time I've seen a team let an opponent score a touchdown like this, especially in the super bowl. It was not a terrible strategy, but it was not something that normally happens.
