Hail Mary is more about luck than good execution.

I'd go with a buzzer beater. In the postseason those are always awesome. Walkoff hr would be a close 2nd.
    >> Anonymous 10/30/11(Sun)16:34 No.16076837
Nothing even comes close to OT hockey, it's infinitely superior to OT in football.

All of them are exciting, but honestly a hail mary in football is less so than hockey or a buzzer beater.

Hell, that poll doesn't even say if it's a completed hail mary, if it's a close game, or what.
    >> Anonymous 10/30/11(Sun)16:34 No.16076838
Any one who says Hail Mary is an asshole.

Walk off Homer is without a doubt the best, followed by a buzzer beater.

Hail Mary is fucking stupid, almost always is intercepted, and requires stupid luck to pull off.

walk off homer. the boringness actually works in baseball's favor. the long pauses between pitches only builds the suspense, plus given that batters only succeed 30% of the time it makes it ten times more exciting when something awesome actually does happen.

    >> Anonymous 10/30/11(Sun)16:44 No.16077191
Everyone is assuming the hail mary is not completed, but the poll is asking which of these is the most exciting when it happens.

All of them are exciting in their own way. Buzzer beaters are exciting because the clock is running down and there's that moment of silence before or after the buzzer goes off while the ball is in the air, and then there's an explosion of cheers and celebration when it goes in.

Hail Mary is self explanatory. Those are just fucking crazy. I can't imagine what it would be like if a playoff game ending like that.

Most of the excitement of hockey comes from the players flying around before the goal itself.

Any kind of hit in a clutch situation in baseball is very exciting. A walk off home run is even better.

It's very hard to put one over another but if I had to rank them I'd say Buzzer beater > Walk off > Hail Mary > Hockey

Oh look, a random hail mary, no context to it whatsoever (maybe it's completed, maybe it's not, maybe it's a close game, maybe it's not)

Hail mary's happen all the time, they aren't that exciting unless it's made, the game is close, and the hail mary wins it. Otherwise, who gives a shit?

Walkoff homer way more exciting, OVertime hockey is infinitely superior to overtime in any other sport, a buzzer beater is mindblowingly exciting.

The problem with OT goals in hockey is it isn't a buildup to a singular event that creates drama. It can happen at any time and if the OT period ends, you play another. In baseball, you know in the build up of a player coming up to bat what happens if he scores. In basketball/football, you know the clock is about to run out.

There is a much bigger build up in the other 3 than hockey

Hockey is in no way my favorite sport but probably an overtime goal BECAUSE the period of time leading up to that goal produces the most tense, anxious, apprehensive feelings throughout the entire arena. The goal is like a cathartic release of all that pressure. Other sports, of course, can match that exact sequence in ways, but overtime goals in hockey are consistently frenzied.

As far as a play being exciting in and of itself? Probably a hail-mary.

That's why it's more exciting, the buildup is sudden, and short.

You fully realize someone is on a breakaway, they have about 3-5 seconds where everyone knows it's down to the goalie and the shooter.

    And that's game.

I think we can all agree that the NFL's overtime is by far the worst pile of shit in sports.

Football does not lend itself to a single "winner take all" situation. If two teams have piss-poor defenses, but god-tier offenses, then whoever wins the coin-toss is going to go into rape mode.
Yet the team with an equally good offense never gets to face the other team's equally bad defense.

Two teams with porous defenses but god-tier offenses are facing each other in overtime.

One or the other will win the coin-toss. That team will rape the bad defense they're up against, and since OT is winner-takes all, they will win.

Yet this never allows the equally good offense of the losing team to face the equally bad defense of the winning team.

It becomes a game decided by a coin.

If a hail mary actually works, it's that, but it's so rare to see one of those that actually succeeds, particularly in the playoffs where you tend to have better(read: smarter) teams.

Can you imagine the shitstorm if a team one a playoff game, or hell, the Super Bowl, on a hail mary?

Of the ones that actually happen on a regular basis...overtime hockey hands down.

What's with all these autismal tards throwing around the term "go-ahead" as an adjective for any play in the last 6 or 7 years?

Go-ahead just means it was the score that gave them the lead. What do you mean?

That being said, hockey will never get many votes on ESPN because it just simply isn't as popular

So both teams deserve to lose? Yet only one is?

That;'s the point you half-retarded sack of shit. There is no equity in the NFL's Overtime.

But you're obviously barely skirting an IQ of 100 so I should stop trying to convince you.

hail mary lacks the intensity of a buzzer beater, not sure why that's voted so highly.

Overtime hockey in the playoffs, easy.

Playoff hockey is the best situation in all of sports anyway.

OT Hockey hands down. Even better if it's in the playoffs. That shits hella intense, it's like you're literally locked to your TV.

Hail Mary is by far the best purely because it hardly ever happens.

Being in a situation where you have to throw a hail mary is rare to begin with, and actually pulling one off successfully happens maybe once or twice a year between both pro football and college football.
