ATTENTION Manchester United fans FROM Manchester..

I'm an American United fan and was just wondering how guys treat American fans that go over to watch a match and also how you feel about American fans in general? I live in Philadelphia and admittedly only began watching the PL in 2006 so I'm relatively new to all of this. But I love United more than anything (except my Phillies, but they're high up there).

I'm just wondering are Man Utd fans generally friendly to Americans? Like can I hang out at Bishop Blaize before a match and feel welcome or will I stand out being there?

Us Manchester United fans understand something other fanbases seem to not understand. The more fans the more money, the more fans around the world we have, the more power and money we will get and that is something good for the club.

Welcome all Manchester United fans, that "support your local club" era is death, fuck that. It doesn't matter if you are from the states or from China, it is important, and even more important if you watch United on the telly or pay for shit the club makes. Buy a replica kit now.

    Pretty much this.
Some of the best United fans I know are from Ireland. Thousands of them with season tickets in the stretty end that travel every couple of weeks for the games.

    >No cameras, especially not during the game
    >No G&G scarves worn with official kits
    >No kits at all is preferable, just casual wear
    >Don't be afraid to sing, stand and sing if you feel up to it.
    >Don't shout out retarded shit, if in doubt keep your mouth shut
    >Don't buy shit from the mega-store
    >Don't even go in there
    >Don't leave early, wait until the players have walked off down the tunnel and be sure to clap them off, win lose or draw

Just common sense, don't appear to be a clueless douche. Other than that everyone WILL be friendly and will treat you like any other supporter.

Believe me, the fans are used to Asians/Africans/Australians etc. etc. so you don't have to worry about getting any abuse.

See how mad they get? That's exactly the reaction we expect, they know that what I'm saying is the truth and they are jealous because they want their club to have as many fans as Manchester United, to maybe one day be as big as Manchester United.

Sadly for them, Manchester United popularity has been part of the club since the fundation of it, just like Liverpool. The only difference is that Manchester United took that popularity in the UK and made it globalized in the early 90's, one of the best things our club could have ever done, after that, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Inter, Milan, Juventus, Chelsea, all did the same, but we are 10 years ahead of them, it was a master stroke.

OP i've lived in massachusetts my whole life and i became a liverpool fan at the beginning of last season. no way i'm ever jumping ship even if john henry leaves, i've grown to really like the club and follow them just as much as i follow my sox, bruins, and pats (don't really care about the nba). as long as you know your stuff and always stay loyal to them then that's fine

though i am curious, what made you want to support manchester united? i chose liverpool because i got into soccer during the WC and had no affiliation to any EPL team until john henry bought liverpool, so i did some research on them, liked them, and became a fan of them. what's your story?

Taking pictures before the game, at half-time and at fulltime are fine. I suppose. However

    1. You'll be sending out a message "Hey look at me, I'm new here and possibly don't give a shit about the club, I'm just here on holiday and next week I'll maybe catch a Liverpool game, better get some great snaps of Rooney!!" Which I gather is something you want to avoid.

    2. There's a chance some hooligan faggot will notice you doing this and call you a cunt.

Almost all the fans are friendly and welcoming. Just don't be a cunt about England like some of the Irish fans are from time to time.

Personally pre-game (depending on the weather) I prefer grabbing a beer from one of the off licences and hanging around on Chester Road to being crammed into Bishops Blaze or the Trafford. Also if you want to go to the megastore do this on a separate day and do the tour as its fucking rammed on match days. Also if you've got membership to buy your ticket remember that gets you discount in the megastore. Also if your buying a programme you might as well get the magazine as well.

    No, you silly cunt.

Case in point here; OP complains about distance preventing him from seeing a match, yet if he supported a local team he wouldn't have this problem.

Foreigners don't have more of a right to support Man Utd than English people considering they both started supporting them from the same medium.

Amerifat here who "supports" Liverpool. No real reason though, they were just the first team I used when I played Fifa. In retrospect I probably should have picked Everton because they actually have Americans on the team. I know there's a rivalry there since the clubs are so close so I guess I can't really switch without being a fag... but I guess I'm already a fag for enjoying watching soccer so not sure what to do.
