116 KB Packs' Matthews: I played second half of 2010 with broken leg Anonymous 08/10/11(Wed)11:35 No.14223460
    >Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl linebacker Clay Matthews played the second half of the 2010 season and all of the postseason with a broken leg, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.

    >Matthews, who had 13.5 sacks during the season and 3.5 more during Packers' run to the Super Bowl title, mentioned the injury while answering a question about how much the Packers will miss departed defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins, who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

    >"I don’t make a big deal of it," Matthews said Tuesday. "(It happened) some time in the middle of the season. You can’t do anything about it. I was just taking practices off and showing up on gameday and giving it my all."

    >Matthews was listed on the injury report every week from Week 9 through the NFC Championship Game as probable with a shin injury, which in fact was a lower-leg stress fracture.

Still not easy playing while injured, especially in such a fast-paced and hard hitting game. Hockey is pretty much the same, they won't let anything keep them off the ice unless they're just about missing their arm or leg. This doesn't apply for other games like baseball and basketball where athletes bruise a toe or a pinky and they're out for two weeks.
    >> Prongerbot !!pUv0YL08ti6 08/10/11(Wed)12:10 No.14223868
Holy fuck talk about ovefblowing nothing. Stress fracture = broken bone. A stress fracture in the shin would barely limit ones movement. Pain wise its not that bad and goes away pretty quickly, only returning after its stressed. It would only really suck for a day or so after a game.

We all know Mathews was juicing up, it's only a matter of time he gets caught, or he stops and his play goes into the shitter.

I played against him in high school, and he sucked. He was this little bitch, and his dad (the DC) wouldn't even play him. Then he walked on to USC the next year with 90 more pounds of muscle packed on.

steroids shouldn't be banned, the public/officials who pushed for ban don't really care for safety of athletes and the sense of 'fair play' is a false one to begin with. Not all sports equipment is same, not everyone eats the same things. There are players getting a completive advantage by doing things legal so it's a narrative that only seeks to pad the egos of those who have never tried to put their bodies in the best position to succeed.

Matthews deserves every probowl he's gotten, his defensive player of the year award and his Butkus award.

    >using high school play vs. NFL play as an indicator

Shit, are you actually serious? My high school pumps out d1 recruits and they've all gotten huge. I mean, our high school won state 2 years of the 4 I was there. They're really good, but it's NOTHING compared to college. We sent a dude to Stanford and last time I saw him he looked about twice as big as he did in high school. Same with the players we've got at Indiana, Texas Tech and Wisconsin. Don't be ridiculous. It's part of going from a high school sport to waking up every morning and going to bed every night living football. Throwing around "STEROIDS STEROIDS STEROIDS" because you're all buttmad you guys didn't land Matthews in the draft or that he wrecked your team this year and then backing it up with "WELL WE ALL KNOW HE DOES IT" or "well he was not GREAT in high school so he MUST BE ON ROIDS" is just laughable.

A lot of people are weak athletes in high school. Michael Jordan, cut, basketball team, still mad, blah blah blah.

The maturation process works differently for other people. I was 5'2" about 125 the day I walked into high school and I was 6'3" 190 by the time I graduated. If I had actually worked out seriously in college instead of taking engineering classes I could have filled out to 230 or so by the time I left college instead of the 210 I made it to. All completely clean.

For someone who actually plays seriously and works out like it's their job (because lol it is), great things can happen. That's what I hate the most about the current era of sports, any time someone achieves something or pushes themselves, people just say LOL ROIDS.
